I’m still struggling to find the right words after the mass shooting at the OWE festival this weekend. It’s heartbreaking to see a long‑running, family‑centered, beautiful event turn into something so chaotic and violent.

Even though I did not attend this year my heart was with all of my fellow food truckers who were there. I’m incredibly grateful that everyone from our food truck family is physically safe, even though I know the emotional trauma will take much longer to heal.

Twelve people were shot, and from what I understand, they are all expected to recover. I’m praying for their healing and for everyone who witnessed the fear and confusion of that night.

I don’t know what actions could be taken to prevent tragedies like this — here or anywhere in the United States — but I do know that we have to come together. We have to choose love over hate, community over division, and compassion over fear.

Our food truck community is strong. We take care of each other. And I’m here for any of you who need to talk, decompress, or just not feel alone.

And please, if you’re able, go out and support the vendors and food trucks who had to leave when the festival shut down. A lot of time, money, and preparation go into this event, and for many of them it represents a significant part of their yearly income. Follow their socials, find their locations, and show them some love. It truly makes a difference.
