BOIL WATER ADVISORY LIFT NOTICE

Residents and Businesses of the City of Mattawa were notified on June 28, 2024, of the detection of E. coli in one sample of the water system and were advised to boil the tap water before using, as a precautionary measure. We are pleased to report that the disinfection and flushing of the water system has been completed and subsequent city-wide water quality testing shows the absence of E. coli bacteria contamination.
THE BOIL WATER ADVISORY IS OFFICIALLY LIFTED, and it is no longer necessary to boil your water before using. The following measures are strongly encouraged at this time:
• Run your cold-water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush your service connection and interior plumbing with water from the service main.
• Empty and clean your automatic ice makers and water chillers.
• Drain and refill your hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

Los residentes y empresas de la ciudad de Mattawa fueron notificados el 28 de junio de 2024 sobre la detección de E. coli en una muestra del sistema de agua y se les recomendó hervir el agua del grifo antes de usarla, como medida de precaución. Nos complace informar que se completó la desinfección y el lavado del sistema de agua y que las pruebas posteriores de calidad del agua en toda la ciudad muestran la ausencia de contaminación por bacterias E. coli.
LA ADVERTENCIA DE HERVIR AGUA SE LEVANTA OFICIALMENTE y ya no es necesario hervir el agua antes de usarla. Se recomiendan encarecidamente las siguientes medidas en este momento:
• Deje abierto los grifos de agua frÃa durante 3 a 5 minutos para enjuagar la conexión de servicio y las tuberÃas interiores con agua de la tuberÃa principal de servicio.
• VacÃe y limpie sus máquinas automáticas de hielo y enfriadores de agua.
• Drene y vuelva a llenar su calentador de agua si la temperatura se establece por debajo de 113 grados Fahrenheit.

As a precautionary measure a boil water advisory has been issued for City of Mattawa Residents and Businesses due to the detection of E. coli in one sample of the water system. Only properties connected to the City of Mattawa system are affected. This does not affect those who are on private wells.
Residents and Businesses should not use tap water without boiling it first if the water is being consumed. Allow the water to come to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using. No illnesses related to the community’s drinking water have been reported. The boil water advisory includes several precautionary steps such as purchasing bottled water or boiling water for drinking, brushing teeth, dish washing, preparing food, and making ice, until the notice is lifted.
The entire water system is being disinfected with chlorine and will be flushed throughout the next few days. Additional samples will be collected city-wide. The advisory will remain in effect until the City of Mattawa and health authorities are confident the water is safe for use. When satisfactory results are reported customers will be notified that the advisory has been lifted; the anticipated boil advisory should last 48 to 72 hours.

Como medida de precaución, se emitió un aviso de hervir el agua para los residentes y empresas de la ciudad de Mattawa debido a la detección de E. coli en una muestra del sistema de agua. Sólo se ven afectadas las propiedades conectadas al sistema de la ciudad de Mattawa. Esto no afecta a quienes están en pozos privados.
Los residentes y empresas no deben usar agua del grifo sin hervirla primero si la consumen. Deje que el agua hierva, déjela hervir durante un minuto y déjela enfriar antes de usarla. No se han reportado enfermedades relacionadas con el agua potable de la comunidad. El aviso de hervir el agua incluye varias medidas de precaución, como comprar agua embotellada o hervir agua para beber, cepillarse los dientes, lavar los platos, preparar alimentos y hacer hielo, hasta que se levante el aviso.
Todo el sistema de agua está siendo desinfectado con cloro y será lavado a lo largo de los próximos dÃas. Se recolectarán muestras adicionales en toda la ciudad. El aviso permanecerá vigente hasta que la ciudad de Mattawa y las autoridades sanitarias estén seguros de que el agua es segura para su uso. Cuando se informen resultados satisfactorios, se notificará a los clientes que se ha levantado el aviso; el aviso de ebullición previsto deberÃa durar de 48 a 72 horas.
