The Corner auction includes quite a few Hamm’s pieces, but this 72-inch Hamm’s B**r bear standup is one of the most fun.

It is big, nostalgic, and full of classic b**r advertising charm. This would make a great addition to a bar, brewery, garage, basement, cabin, or collector’s space. The Hamm’s bear is one of those advertising characters that still gets recognized immediately, especially here in the Midwest.

Featured Auction Item: Handmade Bierstachein B**r Pokers

Here is one of the more unique pieces from The Corner auction.

This pair of Bierstachein b**r pokers was handmade by a blacksmith in St. Ansgar, Iowa, and comes with torches. These were not something we pulled off a shelf from a restaurant supply catalog; they were custom-made and are a great conversation piece.

A b**r poker is heated and plunged into b**r, creating caramelized sugars, warm foam, and a completely different drinking experience. It is perfect for darker b**rs, winter b**r events, brewery nights, patio features, or anyone who wants their b**r service to come with a little fire and showmanship.

This is Lot 139 in the Backes auction for The Corner. The listing notes local pickup only at 30 East State Street, Mason City, with removal available the day of auction until 4:00 PM and Tuesday, June 2 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

TO OUR COMMUNITY, WE'RE OVERFLOWED WITH GRATITUDE!

The outpouring of support we've received this past week has been truly humbling. We're thankful to every customer who dined in or picked up their last slice, and we appreciate the patience and understanding shown to our kitchen staff. We know waits were long, and we apologize to those who couldn't snag a table or wait it out.

Many have asked why we're making this change. We've cherished our four years here, but with demanding day jobs, family commitments, and other business pursuits, something had to give.

We're hopeful someone will seize the opportunity to purchase our business and keep our New York pizza legacy alive! If you're serious about this turnkey opportunity, please connect with Chris or me.

After four incredible years, we have some very difficult news to share.

As of February 28, 2026, The Corner Pizza and Alehouse will be permanently closing our doors.

This has been the most difficult decision we’ve ever had to make. It came after months of conversations, number-crunching, and honest reflection about what’s sustainable for our family and our team. With the current economy, rising labor costs, and overall sales challenges, we ultimately feel this is the best decision for our family as we look toward the future.

We are incredibly grateful — beyond words — for the support this community has shown us. From ordering pizza on busy Friday nights, to grabbing a b**r with friends, to celebrating birthdays, team wins, and everyday moments with us… you’ve made The Corner what it was. Your loyalty and love have meant everything.

As we close this chapter, we’ll be shifting our focus to pursuing other avenues within our sister business, Walsh's Shebeen.

Final Night – Let’s Pack the House ❤️

We would LOVE to see a packed house on February 28 for our final night. 20% of proceeds from that evening will go to support 43 North Iowa, as Chris and Casidey prepare to dance at Dancing for the Dream at The Surf Ballroom on March 28.

Chris, Casidey, and Blair will be bartending all night, the doors will be open, and we would be so honored to celebrate one last time with everyone who has supported us these past four years.

This week, The Corner will be open Tuesday through Friday from 4pm–9pm leading up to closing. Saturday, we open at 4pm. We’re stepping back to focus our time and energy where we do our best work as we finish strong.

Shortening hours — and now closing — was never about giving less. It’s about doing what’s right for our family and our future.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us, supporting local, and making The Corner Pizza and Alehouse part of your lives.

Starting this week, The Corner will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 4pm to 9pm. We’re stepping back from earlier hours so we can focus our time, energy, and people where we do our best work. This choice came after a lot of conversations, number-crunching, and some tough honesty about what’s sustainable for our staff and for the business long term.

Shortening hours isn’t about giving less; it’s about doing it right. Fewer hours lets us run a tighter kitchen, take better care of our team, and keep delivering the quality food and service you expect when you walk through our doors.

We’re grateful for everyone who continues to show up, order pizza, grab a b**r, and support local.
