Join us downstairs at The Bird & The Book TONIGHT for Curated "Night", your opportunity to hear real stories from our community of writers and storytellers.

We always have a great turnout for these engaging evenings, and we would love to have you be a part.

Stop by tonight, with Curated "Night" starting at 7pm.

The bar and kitchen will be open as usual during Curated, with options for both vegan and non-vegan pub grub, and with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available from the bar.

There is no cover charge, we only ask that you bring open ears and minds.

Happy International Coffee Day!

Fun fact! The very first we**am was invented at Cambridge University in 1991, but not for science or security.

It was set up to monitor a coffee pot.

Researchers were tired of making the trip to the break room only to find an empty pot, so they rigged up a camera and created the first live video stream just to check if there was coffee left.

Coffee...Driving innovation since first discovered in the 9th Century AD!

Welcome to Southland Books, the Oldest and Largest Used and New Bookstore in Blount County, TN.

We are not just a bookstore, we are an Institution!

No longer the modest Bookstore that opened over 30 years ago, we now proudly boast Southland Cafe - a Celebrated Lunch Spot opened in 2012, The Bird & The Book - our Bar, Restaurant and Event Venue opened in 2018, and The Dungeon - a Repository of Dead Media - Movies, Games and Music opened in 2019!

Join us at The Bird & The Book as we celebrate Dolly Parton next FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2nd, beginning at 7pm, with a very special screening of "What Dolly Gave Me: Celebrating an East Tennessee Folk Hero", with director Caleb Holland and music producer Kristiana McCombs live and in person.

This brand-new 23-minute documentary What Dolly Gave Me captures the beautiful way East Tennessee celebrated one of its most beloved folk heroes in the brief month following her passing.

Knoxville singer-songwriter Kristiana McCombs wrote, produced and performed a bespoke soundtrack of Dolly-inspired original songs and traditional Appalachian folk music for the film. She and Director Caleb Holland, will lead a very special Q&A following the screening.

CELEBRATE Dolly throughout the evening with Dolly-inspired cocktail specials (and food specials too)!

COME DRESSED to the 9s (to 5s), because after the screening and Q&A, the party keeps going with some Dolly-themed Karaoke fun!
