We are incredibly honored and grateful to have been voted Runner-Up for Best Food Truck in Webster County! šŸ†ā¤ļø
When we started Kettle & Que, we simply wanted to share great food with our community. We never imagined the support, encouragement, and friendships that would come from this journey.
Thank you to everyone who nominated us, voted for us, visited the truck, shared our posts, recommended us to friends, and supported our small family business. Every meal served, every conversation, and every smiling face means more to us than you know.
This recognition belongs just as much to our customers as it does to us. We are truly blessed to be part of such an amazing community.
Thank you, Webster County, for believing in Kettle & Que. We're excited to keep serving you and can't wait to see what the future holds!

Some of you have ask me what I do
Outside of Kettle & Que. I have a construction business. I do painting, remodels and general carpentry. This has been hard on my body over the years and I know I just can’t continue to do it for much longer. So expect more truck days in the future. I have attached some pictures of a job. I am currently working on. When I get it wrapped up, we will schedule some more truck days.

First things first—thank you all for understanding about the truck day cancellation.

The truth is, I have been running wide open for weeks, and it finally caught up with me. When I started feeling under the weather, I made the call to cancel rather than take even the slightest chance of getting anyone else sick. That’s not a risk we’re willing to take with our customers.
I am already feeling much better and getting some much-needed down time. Sometimes your body reminds you that you aren’t built to run on empty forever.

We know many of you were looking forward to BBQ, and trust us—we’re just as ready to get back to serving it. We’ll be announcing another truck day soon, So keep an eye on the page for next truck day.

Thanks again for sticking with us and supporting our little BBQ dream. We appreciate every one of you. ā¤ļø

We know so many people right now dealing with Alpha-gal, and we want our customers to know this is something we take very seriously at Kettle & Que.

When we serve poultry, we use a completely separate smoker dedicated only to chicken and turkey. Those meats never come into contact with our red meat smoker. No cross contamination. No cutting corners.

We have friends, family, and customers living with Alpha-gal, and we understand how difficult and frustrating it can be trying to find safe food you can actually enjoy — especially after a new diagnosis.

So when poultry is on our menu, you can feel confident knowing it is prepared to be Alpha-gal friendly, dairy free, and completely separate from red meat products.

We may just be a little barbecue truck, but we care deeply about the people we serve. If we can make life a little easier and give someone a good meal they don’t have to worry about, then that matters to us. ā¤ļø

We’ve gained a lot of new followers lately, and one question we get asked just about every truck day is, ā€œWhere are you from?ā€ So I figured it was probably time to do another little get to know us post.

My name is Jim Helms. I’ve lived in Marshfield for almost 20 years now. I grew up in Springfield, but moved out this way because we wanted to raise our kids in the country. Marshfield’s been a great place to call home.

I’ve owned a construction business for around 25 years, but cooking has always been something I loved too. Years ago I started smoking meat more as a hobby than anything. We always processed our own meats. Mostly venison and made sausage, so smoking meat just kind of became a natural extension of that. Turns out I was pretty good at it.

Over the years we’ve always enjoyed cooking for people — family get-togethers, fish fries, holidays, gatherings at the lake, whatever the occasion was. I’ve always liked feeding people and seeing folks enjoy good food made from scratch.

As I’ve gotten older, construction has gotten harder on the body, so Kettle & Que became a way to turn something I enjoy into the next chapter of life.

A lot of people ask about the name. ā€œKettleā€ comes from the homemade cooking side of things… the kitchen. Soups, chili, jambalaya, mac & cheese, smoked beans and all the stuff that goes with it. You will see more of those things during the cooler months. ā€œQueā€ is the BBQ side. The smoked meats are incorporated into every ā€œkettle bowlā€.

We opened this truck in 2023, and this is now our third season. Honestly, I never expected it to grow the way it has, but Marshfield and the surrounding communities have supported us from day one and we’re thankful for every bit of it.

We still both work full-time jobs every day, so as much as we’d love to be out running the truck several times a week, it’s just not possible between work, catering, and everything else life brings. But we are planning for more truck days this season than we’ve ever done before, and we’re excited about that.

As long as people keep showing up, I’ll keep cooking.šŸ”„

We appreciate every one of you.
