What would you do when the weather gets real bad real quick? We work through it unless it gets really bad then we hit the bank and let it pass…. Would you keep working or let it pass?

It’s sad as hell the docks and factories wanna nickel and dime us the public only wanted retail size shrimp (23-30s and above) fuel is 5$ plus a gallon I don’t get it then to top the icing off on the cake this is the third shut down where the docs and factories aren’t buying shrimp from the fisherman for the third time since last Monday a week ago from today. I know complaining don’t do much but a man can only take so much when there’s a family at home to provide for… bills don’t stop kids gotta be fed don’t know how much more of this a person can take…

🦐 A little something I’d like people to understand about being a local fisherman…

We love what we do. This isn’t just a job for us — it’s our way of life. We work long hours, miss time with our families, fight the weather, keep these boats running, and spend a whole lot of money just to get out on the water and bring home a good catch.

But right now, it’s getting harder and harder to make it work.

Fuel is expensive. Repairs are expensive. Everything that goes into keeping a boat running costs more than it used to. And then we get to the dock and see what they’re offering us for our catch.

Sometimes you have to sit back and wonder how much longer a man can keep doing this.

We aren’t asking anybody to feel sorry for us. We just want people to understand that when you buy seafood from a local fisherman, you’re supporting a real family and a real livelihood.

Every pound of shrimp has a story behind it. There are hours on the water, fuel burned, equipment maintained, and a fisherman taking a chance every time he leaves the dock.

So if you have the opportunity to buy fresh, locally caught seafood, please consider buying from your local fishermen.

Your support really does matter. ❤️🦐⚓

We’re proud of what we do, and we want to be able to keep doing it for many years to come.

Support your local fishermen. Support local families. Keep our boats on the water.
