Behind this slice of cake, there’s a story. This is a Banoffee tart, but with an Argentine twist.🍌🍫🍯🇦🇷

Banoffee is a British dessert, but I make it with ingredients that remind me of my childhood in Argentina.

I make it with a chocolate sablé crust that reminds me of alfajor cookies. Then I add a generous layer of dulce de leche and fresh banana slices. It takes me back to my childhood because one of the simplest and most beloved desserts we grew up eating in Argentina was bananas with dulce de leche.

To finish it, I top it with a light, smooth whipped cream that perfectly balances the sweetness of the filling.

I recommend enjoying this tart well chilled, ideally on the day it’s made. It’s the perfect dessert for a warm summer day, and the combination of flavors is simply unforgettable.

That’s what we call it: a soft, lemon-flavored cookie made with cornstarch, filled with the sweetest dulce de leche and coated in shredded coconut.
