Fall is coming and our Vendors are feeling the Season!

Hackney Happenings: Well, Now Ya Know

A new weekly series that will be a little mix of product facts, business tidbits, behind-the-scenes info & more.

Well… now ya know! 😉

And let’s start it off!!!!

🤎 Ever wonder why some of our soaps turn brown?

One thing you won’t find in our products is added dye. We prefer to let the ingredients do their thing naturally.

Some fragrance oils — especially those yummy bakery and gourmand scents I use a LOT — contain vanillin. When vanillin is exposed to air and light, it naturally oxidizes and can cause soap and other products to turn shades of tan or brown.

That does NOT mean your soap is old, bad, or that anything is wrong with it. It’s simply a natural reaction caused by the fragrance oil.

There are color stabilizers I could add to help prevent the discoloration, but I choose not to add an extra ingredient just for appearance.

So if your sugar cookie, marshmallow, buttery or other bakery-scented soap gets a little brown… just consider it part of its personality. 😂🤎

Same great product. Same amazing scent. Just naturally doing its thing.

We’re stocked up, staying open late, and ready for a BIG weekend downtown!

We’re open until 8 PM — and the Front Street Quartet will be playing on the patio Friday night!

SATURDAY
Our Front Street entrance opens early 10 AM for grab and go items SUB & SALADS made to order starting at 11 am. Both the Coffee Bar and Market will stay open until 8 PM!
