Here's our new flag for the restaurant to celebrate 250 Year Anniversary of our great nation.
We had to start our revolution flying something. So, commissioned in 1775 by George Washington, the "Appeal to Heaven" flag featured a white background, a green pine tree, and the motto "An Appeal to Heaven". The pine tree symbolized New England's independence, while the motto, rooted in John Locke's political philosophy, declared that the colonists were making a final appeal to God after exhausting all earthly options.
Following its use by "Washington's Cruisers," the Massachusetts Council formally adopted the flag for its state navy in 1776. The banner has experienced a modern resurgence in popularity. It has been utilized by various patriot and conservative movements, and has also seen use within religious and political spheres.
Designed by George Washington’s secretary, Colonel Joseph Reed, in October 1775, the "An Appeal to Heaven". Commissioned for the first six ships of the Continental Navy, the flag symbolized colonial resilience and the right to revolution.The pine tree had long been an emblem of independence in New England, serving as a prominent symbol on local colonial currency and flags. It was chosen in part as a sign of resistance against British policies, such as the "Pine Tree Laws," which reserved the best Eastern White Pines for the Royal Navy’s ship masts.
When the first Stars and Stripes was created in 1777, the Appeal to Heaven (or Pine Tree) flag gradually faded from national military service, but it remained the official maritime ensign for the Massachusetts State Navy. Massachusetts continued flying it until 1971, when the text was removed from the state's naval flag.

We've also been smoking and roasting something new, our new Red, White, and DEEZNUTS for your delight. NC Roasted Peanuts, Double Dip Chocolate Peanuts, Praline Pecan, BBQ Peanuts, BBQ Chashews, Hot Honey Peanuts, Hickory Smoked Almonds, and Cinnamon Roasted Almonds.
