Every once in a while, someone walks through our doors and reminds us exactly why we opened this space in the first place.
The other day, a wonderful woman stopped into the shop after coming off the SS Badger. She happens to be a pilot, writer, and motivational speaker and she left us with a beautiful gift that is now sitting on our bookshelf for anyone to pick up and read.
It’s a signed copy of her book, I See an Airplane Up in the Sky. Sheila wrote and illustrated this story to encourage dreamers of all ages—from 3 to 103—to dream big and never give up on what they’re pursuing. As she wrote in the cover to us: "Keep dreaming big; Chasing your BIG DREAMS!"
When we set out to build this place, we wanted it to be a steady, honest spot where people could just be themselves, slow down, and maybe leave feeling a little more like themselves. Meeting people like Sheila, sharing a real conversation, and seeing the way our community connects with travelers passing through Manitowoc...that’s the real weight of what we do here.
Next time you’re in the shop pull up a chair and take a look at Sheila’s book on the shelf. It’s a beautiful reminder to never stop dreaming big and pursuing the ideas that keep your heart excited about life.
