❤️ Today, we are launching the most ambitious campaign in the history of The Dorset Equine Rescue.
We need your help to secure our future.
Over the past 14 years, together with our incredible supporters, we have rescued and rehabilitated more than 600 horses—giving each one the compassionate care, dignity, and second chance they deserved.
Every horse who arrives at our rescue has a different story. Some have been starved. Some have been neglected. Some have endured unimaginable suffering. Because of the kindness and generosity of our supporters, they are given the opportunity to heal, regain trust, and begin a new chapter through our rehabilitation and adoption program.
Now, we have been given a once-in-a-generation opportunity to ensure that this lifesaving work continues long into the future.
Today, we are proud to officially launch The Forever Farm Capital Campaign—a $4.5 million effort to secure the future of The Dorset Equine Rescue.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of several anonymous supporters, every dollar donated will be MATCHED dollar for dollar, up to $1.25 million.
There has never been a more meaningful—or more impactful—time to give.
Our vision is to create The Forever Farm—a permanent home for The Dorset Equine Rescue, where horses in need can find hope, healing, rehabilitation, and the opportunity for a second chance through our adoption program.
To make that vision possible, we have entered into a signed Purchase and Sale Agreement to acquire the beautiful neighboring equestrian property beside our existing 178-acre Rupert farm. While the agreement has secured this extraordinary opportunity, completing the purchase depends entirely on our ability to raise the remaining funds.
Combined with our existing Rupert farm, these two properties will create a unified rescue campus unlike anything we could have imagined when we first began this journey in our own backyard.
The neighboring property already includes an indoor riding arena, an outdoor riding arena, a horse barn, staff housing, office space, and other essential infrastructure that would have taken years—and several million dollars beyond the cost of purchasing this property—to build ourselves. It will allow us to rescue and rehabilitate more horses, provide year-round rehabilitation and training during Vermont’s long winters, centralize our operations, improve efficiency, and ensure that more of every donated dollar goes directly toward caring for horses.
Just as importantly, we are deeply honored to become the next stewards of a property that has been lovingly cared for with such respect for horses, wildlife, and the natural world. We are committed to preserving everything that makes this place so special while creating a permanent home for The Dorset Equine Rescue—and for the thousands of horses whose lives it will touch in the years ahead.
