During Hispanic Heritage Month we will be highlighting the amazing work of Hispanic leaders and organizations in our community. Today’s spotlight: Silas Valle and Finca Coffee Madison!

Silas Valle, owner of Finca Coffee, came to Wisconsin from El Salvador in 1989 for school. He graduated from UW Platteville with a business degree and returned to El Salvador, then came back to Wisconsin fifteen years later. He and a friend from business school created Finca Coffee in 2019, bringing together the food and coffee of El Savador. Finca means farm, the coffee served is high quality Salvadoran coffee grown at farms in the mountains and roasted just before it’s shipped to the United States. Finca Coffee works with farmers and orders small batches every three weeks to ensure the coffee is always fresh. Finca Coffee also features two popular foods from El Salvador: pupusas, and Salvadoran quesadillas, as well as burritos, tacos, and Mexican quesadillas. The cafe space is decorated with the work of Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort, and features depictions of the national bird of El Salvador, the torogoz. Finca Coffee is a space for community to gather and enjoy fresh food, and it’s even right across the street from Rooted’s Badger Rock Neighborhood Center!
