Chong has been with the Lao Laan Xang family for over 12 years. He is one of the most hardworking individuals I have ever met. Every night, he is the last to leave-preparing for the next day and keeping our business running smoothly. We are happy that he will continue to be part of our team at the Atwood location. Be sure to stop by the farmers market at Hilldale, where he sells fresh produce from his garden!

Pa was here cooking on our first day, and she’s here on our last! For over 25 years, she has been getting up before sunrise to make the stuffed chicken wings you know and love. Pa is the definition of diligence, and we are so glad to have her as part of our family at Lao Laan Xang.

Announcement for Lao Laan-Xang—Lao, the Land of a Million Elephants

We have enjoyed serving Lao food—from our family to yours—for over 32 years in Madison. Even though we’ve been planning for this transition for several months now, it’s with a heavy heart that we close our doors for good this Sunday, March 27th at our W***y Street location.

We as a family have run this location for 25 years, but our customers have become our extended family. We have witnessed first dates, marriage proposals—including my own, birthdays, graduations, and Lao New Year’s Celebrations and so much more.

Just as we have raised families of our own, we have seen children in booster seats grow up to join our staff and even put some of them through college. It has been our privilege to participate in fund-raisers and donate our home-made meals to any number of multi-cultural events and causes around town. It has truly been the most rewarding experience of a lifetime.

Although closing our doors at the W***y Street location leaves a hole in our hearts, we look forward to continuing to serve our customers into the future at our remaining location on Atwood. As for our current location, we welcome a new business into our space, someone who shares our ongoing commitment to family and community.

We so appreciate the numerous heart-felt comments on Facebook as well as the hugs, tears, and well wishes throughout the week from all those who stopped by for all the years of service and to wish Mom a Happy and well-deserved Retirement!

Lao Laan-Xang Williamson Street staff will be joining the staff at our Atwood Avenue location. Sunday March 27 will be the last day the Williamson St location will be open for business. We have enjoyed serving Lao Food to our wonderful customers at this location for over 25 years. We hope we will continue to see you at our Lao Laan-Xang Atwood location:
