A farewell letter from Morris Ramen
Dear community,
It is with humble gratitude and the heaviest of hearts that we announce the closing of Morris Ramen. This has been the most difficult decision we've ever had to make and one we do not take lightly. We are both terrified and heartbroken to say goodbye. After 7 years, we will have our last service on Saturday February 24th, 2024.
First and foremost, we want to thank all of our staff, past and present, for being the heartbeat of our restaurant. To say our teams were an integral part of our business would be an understatement.
It was, and has always been the staff who helped curate and provide so many wonderful experiences for our community over the years.
The service industry is relentless and restaurant work takes incredible skill, determination, and teamwork. It demands perseverance, a strong sense of self, and grace. This work has never been easy, but working alongside all the world's best staff helped us trust that we could get through for as long as we did. Please know it is because of our teams that we've lived our vision of nourishing souls and building community one bowl of noodles at a time. To our amazing Morris team past and present, you are all magnificent and we are so proud to have been part of your restaurant family. Thank you forever for all for your love and dedication.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for our guests who have dined with us over the years and loved us from a far. We appreciate your support and loyalty, whether newly found or regular over the years. The reason we are loved in this community is because of your support, your cards, your kind words on socials and your trust. We are truly honored and humbled to have served you.
To be real, dreams die. We have come to terms with this as it has been an extraordinarily taxing couple of years. I think we are broken in ways we can't really comprehend yet, but we need to give ourselves time to try to feel it.
We hope Morris Ramen provided a sense of home for every person who came through our doors. We've loved having the King Street Neighborhood as our home, surrounded by passionate entrepreneurs and some of the best in local business.
Morris Ramen came to be as we became a family of three, but it was in the years of being open that we became part of a community. We have watched our son George grow up running up and down the bar of the shop then stop in at a neighboring business to say hello. Our families and staff celebrated monumental moments together at the shop. Then we collectively endured some of the most difficult years of our lives by weaving together acts of kindness and care through community meals and solidarity.
We sincerely hope the strong sense of community continues and thrives forever.
Once again, it is with our deepest gratitude and sincerest love that we say goodbye.
Our wish is that we as a community remain hopeful and safe. That we continue to keep our hearts open and take care of one another.
We will miss seeing all of you at 106 King Street but we know we'll still be seeing you around.
With so much care and love in our hearts,
Matt and Francesca
