My name is Maria Clara and I was born in Medellin, Colombia. Since I was a kid I have been fascinated with the animals, the landscapes and the kind people of my home country.

I arrived in Madison for the first time in 2008, after graduating from Vet School. I worked with UW for a few years and fell in love with the city.

For the last 6 years, I have worked with 45 small coffee growers in Colombia, learning about tasting, harvesting and roasting the best coffee.

Currently, I support their cooperative efforts by finding direct buyers for their wonderful hi quality coffee under Estacion Medellin coffee brand.

At Estacion Colombia we want to:

1.Give you access to the best Colombian coffee, fresh roasted every month
2.Support the 45 small coffee growers monthly income
3.Invite you to travel to Colombia and meet the beautiful land and the kind people that grow your coffee.

Coffee has a life cycle, which, with proper storage, could be prolonged.

When you talk about fresh coffee it means that it has been roasted recently; that is, in a time not exceeding one or two months. In that period it retains the intensity of flavors and aromas, which decreases with the passage of weeks.

Have you ever wondered if the temperature of the water influences the final taste of the coffee? The answer is YES!

Keep in mind that if the water is below 194F we will not achieve a coffee with all its components, and if it is above, for example, by 200F, we will obtain a greater extraction of the components of the coffee and as a result the coffee will be more bitter than desired.

That is, the ideal temperature to prepare a delicious coffee is 194F
