❤️ AT SUGAR PINE SMOKEHOUSE, WE CHOOSE KINDNESS. ❤️
In light of recent social media posts and comments directed toward our business, we feel it is important to share a simple message from our hearts.
At Sugar Pine Smokehouse, everyone is welcome.
When you walk through our doors, we don’t ask what you do for a living. We don’t ask about your personal beliefs, your background, or your circumstances. We simply welcome you, offer you a seat, and do our very best to serve you with kindness, dignity, and respect.
That is who we are. That is who we have always tried to be.
We understand that people in our community are hurting, that emotions are high, and that everyone has their own experiences and feelings. We respect that. Everyone’s rights, feelings, and safety matter.
But we also believe that kindness and respect should extend to everyone, including the hardworking employees at our restaurant and the Madera Municipal Golf Course.
The personal attacks, hurtful words, angry phone calls, and threats have been deeply disheartening. No employee should have to endure verbal abuse or feel threatened simply for showing up to work. And no child should ever have to feel afraid to go to school because of what their parent does for a living.
We are more than a business. We are families, parents, neighbors, friends, and members of this community. We are people with hearts and feelings, just like everyone else.
We will not respond to anger with anger. We will continue to choose kindness.
Our doors will remain open to everyone. Our commitment to treating every guest with compassion and respect will not change.
We will continue to pray for those who are hurting, for healing where there is pain, for understanding where there is division, and for peace throughout our community.
At the end of the day, we may not all share the same opinions or experiences, but we can still choose to treat one another with humanity.
Kindness costs nothing. Respect should be given to everyone. And everyone deserves to feel safe.
