People are sometimes (okay… ALL the time 🤣) surprised that we’re known for our burgers too—and that’s okay! 😜 We love it and have NO shame.
Yes, we’re a Mexican restaurant. But we’re also a reflection of two cultures coming together. 🇲🇽+🇺🇸
Tonight, while I was on the line, Bety made one of the MOST beautiful burgers I’ve ever seen. It was picture-perfect. Even though my “trying to take a photo while running a restaurant” photography skills did it NO justice. 😩😂
But I stopped for a second, snapped a quick picture, and it reminded me of something…
A lot of people don’t realize how much thought goes into our burgers.
We’re constantly asking ourselves one question:
✨ How can we make it even better? ✨
Not just for our burgers… but for every single item on our menu.
Years ago, we hand-pattied every burger using fresh ground beef, and we were SO proud of them. Honestly, that’s kind of how our burger reputation started.
Back then, we didn’t even have a walk-in cooler or freezer. We had one 3-door upright cooler & one tiny 2-door upright freezer…and that was it. 🤣
I still don’t know how we survived, but somehow we did. Because of our limited space we had no choice but to make burgers as we needed them. What started as a limitation ended up becoming one of our biggest strengths.
As we continued learning, tasting, and growing, we realized we could make them even better. Today we have upgraded to using fresh Premium Black Angus beef with traceable sourcing (SO fun btw), served on homemade buns made exclusively for Plaza by Sweet! Indeed, LLC!
And just wait until Daniel perfects his hand-cut fries recipe… 🤤 You’d flip.
(First, I just have to figure out where in the world we’re going to fit another vegetable cutter in our kitchen & expand our cooler space by a million sq ft. 😅🫠)
When I travel to restaurant conferences, I’ve had some pretty well-known people in the restaurant industry tell me I’m crazy. (Which is basically fuel to my fire, by the way. 🔥😝)
And honestly… I understand where they’re coming from. In a typical market & restaurant strategy, they’re right. But they’re looking at it through the lens of a different city. We’re looking at it through the lens of Madelia.
They ask, “Why would a Mexican restaurant put so much effort into burgers or even have them on the menu in the first place?”
What they don’t understand is Madelia. 🌾
We’re a small town. Families come in together, and one person wants enchiladas while another wants a great burger. We don’t see those as competing ideas—we see them as taking care of our community the best way we know how.
We strive to be the place where people celebrate special moments, grab lunch after a game, enjoy date night, or stop in after work… whether they’re craving tacos, burgers, or both.
That’s why we put just as much pride into our burgers as we do our tacos. 🍔 🌮
Sometimes your biggest success starts because you had to figure it out with what you had. 💚
So, next time you hear we are known for our burgers. Now you have some backstory to why.
Who knows… maybe someday you’ll see two separate concepts from us. 😜🙃
But for now, we’re exactly where we want to be—blending two cultures under one roof. Where two traditions meet, mix, and become something uniquely ours. 🎉 💞
