He and his wife Annie Laurie built Finchers on 3947 Houston Ave into to best, most reconized BBQ restaurant in the middle Ga area thru the 40's, 50's, and 60's. Their two children, Doug Jr and Mollie, then took control and opened two more locations. The first on 891Gray Hwy was opened in the 60's followed by 519 North Davis Dr in Warner Robins in the 70's. Doug Jr's two sons, Doug III and Jake now run the operation, and they have opened up one more location, 5627 Houston Rd.

As business owners, we pay thousands of dollars over the years to the Macon Water Authority and Bibb County for storm drains, sewer systems, and infrastructure upkeep. But when there’s actually a problem and you need help getting it fixed? Good luck getting anyone to respond — especially if your business isn’t located downtown.

Out here in East Macon, it feels like we’re forgotten unless it’s time to collect another bill or fee. Businesses in every part of this community deserve the same attention, service, and support. We work hard, employ local people, pay taxes, and try to keep our areas thriving too.

Infrastructure problems don’t just hurt businesses — they hurt employees, customers, and the entire community. East Macon matters.

Everyone, yes there was a shooting on Gray Highway today, but it did NOT happen at Fincher’s. It occurred on the roadway in front of our restaurant. Thankfully, everyone at our restaurant is safe and okay.

It’s heartbreaking and frustrating to continue seeing things like this happen in Macon. Running a restaurant is already challenging enough without situations like these affecting our employees, customers, and community.

We appreciate everyone checking on us and supporting our staff. Please continue to pray for Macon and for everyone involved.

Happy Memorial Day from the Fincher family!

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We hope everyone is spending the day with family, friends, and great food.

Our Gray Highway location will be open today from 10 AM–2 PM. All other locations will be closed for the holiday.

We look forward to serving everyone again tomorrow during normal business hours!
