🌱✨ Calling all young growers, makers, bakers, and entrepreneurs! ✨🌱

We’re excited to introduce the NEW Youth Farmers Market at the Bourke Street Community Garden in downtown Macon! 🧑‍🌾👩‍🌾

This opportunity is open to ANY school-age youth in our area—you do not have to belong to a 4H Club to participate. If you have grown it, made it, baked it, created it, or raised it, we want to help you share it with the community! 🍅🌻🍪🎨🧼

The guidelines are simple:

✅ The product must be made or grown by the participating youth.
✅ Youth vendors may be any school age.
✅ At least one adult must be present at the youth’s booth or table during the market.

This is more than a chance to sell products. It gives young people practical experience with entrepreneurship, customer service, pricing, and marketing while encouraging creativity, confidence, and self-sufficiency. 💚

The Youth Farmers Market will be held at the 114 Bourke Street Community Garden in downtown Macon during our upcoming market on Saturday, September 26th, from 9am - NOON.

🍷🍇 If you’re at the Fork & Cork Festival, be sure to stop by Macon’s wonderful local winery, West Winery,—one of our outstanding supporting partners of the Macon Area Community Garden!

While West Winery crafts & sells award-winning, fantastic local wine, they also generously support the Macon Area Community Garden by collaborating with us at events like this.

Right now, they’re hosting a special display of live plants donated by Leigh Simon, set up on the sidewalk outside the winery. These plants are available for a free will donation, with all proceeds going directly to help our community garden grow and thrive. 🌿💚

Enjoy some local wine, grab a beautiful plant, and show your support for the garden all in one visit!

Tonight, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to three incredible young entrepreneurs who showed up big time to help unload and set up our brand-new heavy-duty picnic tables at the Bourke St. Community Garden provided to our community via a recent MoEATS grant! 💪🌟

Sam- Quinn Junk Removal, Talen- Holman Lawncare & Ryder- Lewis Body Shop and Glass

These guys were just downtown grabbing dinner after a long day of building their own businesses when we spotted them and asked, “Hey, can we borrow some muscles?” Without missing a beat, they said, “Absolutely, happy to help!” 🙌🔥

At MU Extension, we’re all about supporting youth, entrepreneurial spirit, and building self-sustaining communities — and tonight was a perfect example of all that coming together.

Thanks to these amazing young men, our garden now has beautiful new picnic tables ready for everyone to enjoy. 🪑🌿

Here’s to our local youth making a difference and showing what community support looks like in action! 👏💚

Big shoutout and heartfelt THANK YOU to Chelsea Rice, Dana Halstead, and their amazing teams for stepping up and pitching in to assemble our brand-new picnic tables at the Bourke St. Community Garden! 💚🪴

Thanks to a MoEATS Grant, we were able to purchase these heavy-duty tables to improve our community garden. When the tables arrived damaged and needed urgent inspection and assembly, Chelsea, Dana, and their crews didn’t hesitate to jump in and help — even with busy schedules and other commitments. 👏👏

Your generosity and community spirit made all the difference, and the tables look fantastic! We can’t wait for everyone to enjoy these new gathering spots in the garden. 🌞

We plan to get these placed sometime this weekend, so keep an eye out for them and be sure to stop by the Macon Community Garden to check out the new picnic tables. Your support truly helps grow a stronger, more connected Macon! 🌿✨

A HUGE heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for the 3rd Macon Area Farmers Market of the 2026 season, which kicked off at the Bourke St. Community Garden and continued to bring life throughout downtown Macon. 🌞 Despite the humidity and heat, nearly 400 wonderful visitors came out to support our vibrant local market community in beautiful downtown Macon. 🏙️💚

This month’s market featured 12 local vendors offering an amazing variety of homemade, handmade, and baked goods! 🍞🧁 From home-raised pork 🐖 to homegrown flowers 🌸 and fresh, crisp produce 🥕🍅, plus our dedicated 4-H growers showcasing their hard work, the market was bursting with garden-grown goodness galore! 🌿🌻

Your support of these passionate local growers, artisans, and producers truly strengthens the heart of our community. Together, we celebrate the hard work, love, and care that goes into every product shared. 🤝💪
