After all these years, it’s hard to think of a Mackinaw City without Sister Chris Herald.
For many years, we at Audie's Restaurant and The Chippewa Room have had the privilege of working alongside Sister Chris for weddings, community events, parties, holiday celebrations, and so many of the moments that bring people together. She has been there for our own family members’ baptisms, First Communions, weddings, celebrations of life, and just about every life event in between. At this point, we’re pretty sure she has seen more of our family milestones than some of our relatives!
She has been a constant presence in our community—kind, dedicated, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand, help make an event happen, or somehow keep everything moving when the rest of us were wondering what was going on.
And then, of course, there was that one summer when Sister Chris temporarily traded in her religious duties a few days a week for a name tag and joined the Audie’s team as a host! We were fortunate enough to have her help us out for a short time, and while we can't say we're responsible for starting a blossoming restaurant career, we're certainly proud to say we were part of her brief time in the hospitality industry.
Over the years, our relationship has grown far beyond simply working together. She has been part of countless important moments for our family, our restaurant, and our community, and we are incredibly grateful for all the years we have shared.
As she officially begins her retirement, we want to take a moment to say thank you.
Thank you for your years of dedication, for being there through so many celebrations and difficult moments, for helping bring our community together, and for putting up with all of us in Mackinaw City for all these years. That last one alone probably deserves is own retirement award!
Congratulations on your retirement, Sister Chris! You have certainly earned it.
From all of us at Audie’s Restaurant and the Jaggi Family, thank you for being such an important part of our family and our community. We wish you nothing but the best in this next chapter! ❤️
And don't worry—we'll try not to call you when we need someone to cover a hosting shift. 😉
