Named the Best Seafood Dive in Michigan by both Coastal Living Magazine and Food Network, we offer a wide variety of Great Lakes fish as well as different styles of shrimp (and no, the Great Lakes doesn't have shrimp). We also offer one of the biggest menus in the area, so there won't be any trouble finding a little something for everyone. Another signature item is our famous Keyhole Hot Wings. Many have said they are the "best they've ever had". Stop on in and give us a try. We're pretty sure you'll like us. #1 ranked restaurant in Mackinaw City according to Google reviews.

The mighty Chief Wawatam started service in the Straits 115 years ago today. After Frank Kirby (1st photo) designed the mighty Chief Wawatam, the keel was laid on June 1st, 1911. Although she was launched at 9:10am on August 26th, 1911 at the Toledo Shipbuilding Company in Toledo, OH, the Chief, under the command of Captain Louis Boynton (2nd photo) didn't set sail for the Straits of Mackinac until October 16th, 1911. 3rd photo shows her first arrival in St. Ignace, MI the very next day. The Chief Wawatam was the largest railroad ferry to ever sail the Straits. Equipped with 2 engines in the stern which helped propel her, she was also fitted with one engine in the front which provided her with ice breaking capabilities. She was 338 feet long and 62 feet wide and was able to hold 28 to 32 rail cars at a time. Making countless trips between Mackinaw City and St. Ignace, she was shut down in August of 1984 when the railroad dock in St. Ignace collapsed. She sat in Mackinaw City for the next four years and the State of Michigan eventually sold her to Canadian owned Purvis Marine Limited. There she was cut down and used as a barge until she was completely scrapped in 2009. Some of the artifacts that were removed before being sold can be seen at Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. Sad ending to a once mighty ship. Last photo is a slide I just picked up of her sitting at the Mackinaw City dock in 1985, where the Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum now sits. Enjoy the Day!

Good Day Folks! Central Avenue back in the day. The big brown building is the Keyhole Bar & Grill (Ryan's Saloon then). Photo dates prior to 1916, as the Dixie Monument at the end of the street hadn't been built yet. Th building 2nd from the right of the photo is now the Dixie Saloon (was originally built at the Mercier House in 1890 and later became the Beach Motel and then the Hotel Wawatam before it became the Dixie Tavern after the monument was built). I believe the building at the very end may have been an icehouse. It looks too big to the the Old Fashion Inn, which was located where Shepler's parking lot is now. You can see the Mackinaw City Band performing in front of the Meat Market (which is now Cherry Republic). Enjoy the Day!
