Good morning from Mackinac! We're expecting some rain today but rain on Mackinac (especially in the fall) just makes the island feel so romantic. I'm headed to the mainland to help Patrick pack up the house since it closes in less than 2 weeks 😱 Main Street was so quiet this morning I only saw one other person, and I didn't trim that video just in case you wanted to feel like you were riding the road yourself 😉 what are you most looking forward to seeing on Mackinac in the coming months? (Besides snow 😂)

13 hours of my day condensed down to less than 3 minutes! My days consist of a lot of repetition - baking batch after batch of cookies, running back and forth from the kitchen to the store with empty and full trays, and up and down Grand Hill to run home and let Coco out. It's been awhile since it was just Audrey and I in the store together, but it's always the best time (and the best tunes)! Dinner at Patrick Doud’s Irish Pub for the perfect burger with the gorgeous Paintings in Progress is always the best way to end the day. The early mornings and long days are starting to wear me down a little, but the cooler air means fall is on the horizon and I'm so excited for my favorite season on Mackinac! 🦇🍁🎃

Happy anniversary to us! 7 years down, hopefully 70 to go. How special is it that I get to bike by the place we got married every single day? There's no one I'd rather do life with. Love you, Patrick!

Just in case you needed a moment of zen today, here is my bike ride to work in one minute. Lots of schools are back in session and the weather has noticeably cooled off, you can definitely tell the seasons are changing. This is my favorite time on Mackinac and I'm going to soak up every second! Enjoy the ride 😉🚲

Housing on Mackinac is a hard thing to wrap your mind around, which is probably why I get asked about it so many times a day! When we moved back to the island a few years ago, we moved into a housing unit provided by my husband's employer. When he was promoted a little less than a year later, we moved into a slighter larger housing unit also provided by his employer. We've now moved into an independent rental - 3 moves in 3 years 🙃 naturally, immediately upon moving into the new rental, our house had an offer submitted so now we get to pack that too! Hopefully all of this leads to us finding our forever on the island 🤞 whatever happens, you're all along for the ride 🤪

Firing off the morning cannon at Mackinac State Historic Parks - a dream come true! You absolutely must do this on your trip to Mackinac Island or Mackinaw City, in addition to visiting our gorgeous state parks. The forts are a must-see for kids and adults alike, I'll never stop loving these historic icons! (And the Ralph Lauren American Flag sweater was definitely intentional 😉)

Nothing recharges my batteries like a horseback ride with friends. Being around horses is therapeutic, and it's one of the reasons why I love being on Mackinac. We're looking for our own horse at the moment (and a spot to keep them!) but in the meantime we are so fortunate to have friends who let us ride theirs! It was a gorgeous evening for a ride, even a little bit chilly and everyone, including us, were feeling their oats. Ready for another day of cookie baking! 🍪

Not to be dramatic, but Mackinac Island is the most cozy and romantic place in world for a fall time trip. There are no shortage of activities, but the best parts are definitely lazy bike rides through falling leaves and quiet dinners next to the working fireplaces at our many fantastic restaurants. And the best part? No passport needed! I've been antsy to book a trip for myself, but truly nowhere else compares to Mackinac fall so I'll wait for it to come to me 😉

Spend the day with me as a working mom on Mackinac! Being that our store is on the dock we get to see the comings and going of the island. It feels like yesterday that everyone was arriving for the beginning of the season, and here we are already watching the college kids depart for another semester at school. I know you're all excited to see snow again, but I'm so excited to show you fall! It's hands down my favorite time on Mackinac. Busy days ahead but there's nothing else I'd rather be doing. Have a lovely Wednesday, everyone!
