On a very recent trip which included a few days in Toronto, we checked this place out, -cafe.com that my wife discovered in 2018 on a trip she made to Toronto.

I had an Ube Steamer, Kathryn, my wife, had a Liquid Sunshine. Both were incredible - as good as they looked. The atmosphere and the vibe matched that of the surrounding neighborhood, called Kensington Market not too far, as you can see, from the famous CN Tower. The Kensington Market (area) of Toronto is several blocks of multi-ethnic shops, businesses and restaurants that is as colorful as it is ethnically rich and diverse.

Highly recommend if in Toronto.

Coffee…that is what is on my mind. For those unaware, coffee…good coffee, roasting good coffee, and selling and sharing good coffee was pretty much the only thing on my mind for 18+ years - from Jan 2008 to April 2026 - as the owner, roaster of Grains of Sense coffee.

Now, having officially retired as of this past June, I do have other things on my mind, family, spending time with my wife, some traveling..,and…yes, coffee.

The intent of this page…and it may take some time to really get rolling…will be to share snippets of our travels, visits to coffee shops, cafes, coffee roasters, maybe even the coffee farms that we come across or encounter on our travels.

Additionally, hopefully, there may also be encouraged, discussions and stories that involve…yes…coffee. At the moment, ‘I’m verklempt; talk’. (SNL)

If I was successful in doing so, there should be a photo from a recent visit to a small, quaint coffee shop in Quebec City, Canada. While the weather outside was horrific (and it was), the ambience and the experience, inside, was terrific.

I find it somewhat fitting, today’s inspirational quote (pictured)…fitting because it has been in this spirit, in His Spirit, that I have tried to live my life, personally and while I had the honor and the privilege to serve anyone who came through the doors of Grains of Sense while I had the joy and responsibility of owning it. Fitting, too, today as, today, I work my final shift, stepping into a new chapter of life - retirement.

Knowing that Katy, and her family who are supporting her, share, follow and live the same faith, and also see Grains of Sense as a higher calling was one of the deciding factors, if not the major deciding factor in our decision to pass the baton, and for the mission, or the commission to continue forward.

To those of you wishing or hoping for a white Christmas…
here you go. Had to travel a little to find it.

Seriously, wishing that this Christmas was all you hoped for - with or without snow - and that your heart filled with real, true peace and joy that can only come from finding a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
