Thai New Year, known as Songkhran ( April 13-15), involved gently pouring scented water on Buddha statues and elders hands, which evolved into massive, nationwide water fights, which symbolizes purification, renewal, and respect for elders’. In the U.S., Songkran is often observed at Buddhist temples rather than in the streets. Communities gather for:
• Traditional blessings by monks
• Cultural performances
• Food festivals
• Water-pouring rituals (in a more respectful, ceremonial form)
