A LOVE NOTE FROM MOONSHADOWS RESTAURANT
Moonshadows Restaurant began on a beach in Bocas del Toro, Panama when John was telling me about his dream of many years - to have his own restaurant. We returned to Luray and after several years passed we began to look for the right spot to continue on the journey to Moonshadows. In 2008 that "spot" became a reality and the nine year renovation leg of the journey began. Most people would think that taking nine years was poor management if not absolutely crazy. Those years, however, provided us with hundreds of memories from tediously pulling out old rug staples one by one to choosing the right colors to reflect the moon or being excited to find another picture with the moon for just the right wall or finding the right person to build the kitchen for the restaurant. It provided us the luxury of changing our minds when realizing that an idea we thought was perfect really was not. We were lucky to have had the time to experience that part of the journey but the next step - opening to the public gave us the best memories of all. We saw old friends and met new ones and came to meet their friends and family members. It has been so rewarding to know that our dining guests love Moonshadows and its food, ambience and staff. We are very grateful to our closing staff who we feel were professional, dedicated and had the best interest of the restaurant at heart. For the final chapter we have to say goodbye. Some of you may know that John has been in the hospital due to getting the Omicron variant of Covid. His recovery has been slow and he is looking at a long road back to health. He is a wonderful human being - talented, creative and conscientious who is so happy to use his culinary skills to delight others. The decision to close was difficult especially when realizing that we may not have the opportunity to see some of you again. Thank you for your support, appreciation, friendship and the wonderful memories.
Until we meet again,
Eat Fresh and Bon Appetit !
