New to Lubbock? Getting to know the city is easier when you know where locals go for food, shopping, entertainment and a little West Texas character. Here are five areas to put on your list and a few spots to check out while you’re there:

🎸 The Depot District
One of Lubbock’s best-known entertainment areas, with live music, nightlife and plenty of local history. Catch a show at The Blue Light Live, grab a bite at Triple J Chophouse-Brewery, and explore the area around Buddy Holly Hall.

🛍️ South Lubbock
This fast-growing part of town is packed with shopping, restaurants and places to spend a Saturday. Browse the shops around Kingsgate Center, stop by H-E-B for a true Texas grocery run or head a little farther south for the Wolfforth Farmers Market.

🎨 Downtown Lubbock
Downtown mixes Lubbock history with arts, culture and locally owned businesses. Visit the Buddy Holly Center, explore the galleries and businesses along the First Friday Art Trail LBK, and grab coffee at Monomyth Coffee.

🏈 Tech Terrace + Texas Tech
You don’t have to be a student to love this part of town. Walk through Texas Tech University, catch a Red Raiders game at Jones AT&T Stadium and stop into J&B Coffee for a neighborhood favorite.

🌵 North Lubbock
Head north to experience more of Lubbock’s agricultural roots and wide-open West Texas feel. Visit the National Ranching Heritage Center, explore the Museum at Texas Tech University and spend some time at nearby Mackenzie Park.
