Hello Clark's Diner family and friends,
You may have noticed some changes around the Diner in the past week. Diner closing unexpectedly, shorter operating hours , limited menu on the weekend, maybe your food took a little longer than normal. John, our owner has lost me as his partner and I thought it was time to let you all in on whats been going on with us, the owners, as a family.
Last Friday our son was seriously hurt on the football field at his high school football game. He was rushed to Children's hospital for his sports injuries. While there his sports injuries started not being so serious. He had no cuncussion...no spine fractures and feeling in his arms and legs started to come back. We thought we were headed home with just a scary story.
Minutes later our life as we know it came to a hault. Routine bloodwork came back ..they tell me my 16 year old , athletic, seemingly healthy son has a white blood count of over 100,000. Dane has leukemia. The shock heard around jeannette where we live.
I will tell you he is doing great , his body is reacting beautifully to chemo, his spirits are strong as his team, his family , and his community has rallied with us and we are all doing everything we can for Dane.
So as we move forward and bring Dane home later in the week we ask for your grace, your understanding and your patience if your food takes to long , maybe we dont have your favorite dish for a day, if our hours have to change or if we need to close the diner for a day. These are not practices we want to happen but as many of u know we are a small buisness. John Clark, our owner, manager, prep and only cook is not only running the diner but is getting our home ready for dane, taking care of our other small children while I am at Childrens with our son full time. At the same time he is also wanting to keep the same standards and deliciousness that our diner has become known for. That said we appreciate your buisness as always, today we also need your patience compassion and understanding. Thank you Diner family we appreciate you all.
FUN FACT: DANE is a native to Lower Burrell. He was born here and was a student of burrell school district until he was 9 when we moved to Jeannette to be closer to family :)
