We are reminded that while we cannot control everything in our lives and the world, one important thing to note (make aware) is—do not waste time fixating on things we cannot control. This does not means, however that we should turn a blind eye from the suffering of the world. It means because we are aware, we are intentional in how we live our lives.
Our human tendency of control is deep-seated, often subconscious, need to influence outcomes and make sense of this complex world driven by our desire for security and predicability which often results in reducing anxiety and increasing motivation. However, when we are too focused on trying to control things that are not in our control— the results are the opposite— increase anxiety, losing clarity of reality, and motivation altogther.
Today we want to remind you, ourselves included that we are born to choose. Choose to do what we can control and choose take action (make indirect change) each day with one step at a time, no matter how small. In this way we understand our own individual power that we can create/change our reality.
With this understanding, we can create a plan— making change, “indirectly.” Indirect change is not an instant change. An instant change requires a direct plan. Indirect change takes time, it takes intention, and exertion— it creates ripple effect without muddle the waters. This ripple effect is not like waves effect. Ripple effect is calm, stabled, prolonged, sustained, and stayed constant for a longer time vs big waves of changes which constantly fluxuate due to its rapid changes.
Good work takes time. Great work takes even longer time and strenuous effort. So, desire to let go of things we cannot control must come from an understanding of this process and choose to trust that process in order to create space for ourselves to build a better reality and make a sustainable change.
Make choice. Be intentional. Let go. Approach indirectly. Take small steps. Create ripple effect. Build sustainable change.
