The Moreton Bay Fig Tree located in Santa Barbara, California is believed to be the largest Ficus macrophylla in the United States. A seaman visiting Santa Barbara in 1876 presented a seedling of an Australian Moreton Bay fig tree to a local girl who planted it. The tree was officially designated as a historic landmark and placed on the California Register of Big Trees. 📷

The Pinchot sycamore’s baby brother! This old tree is a beautiful specimen that resides in Simsbury, CT. It’s growing in the same area as the more famous big brother known as the Pinchot sycamore which is one of the largest known American sycamore trees in the US. For being the considered the baby brother this tree is no baby. If it wasn’t growing next to the large Pinchot sycamore this tree would be called a giant..
