Humming Bird Porter returns! Chilly evenings and the promise of Fall cry out for dark b**r options.

Humming Bird strikes a delicate balance between rich roasted malt flavors, and bready toasted malts to bring you a classic robust porter. The nose is Baker’s Chocolate 🍫 and espresso ☕️ with whispers of scorched toast. First sip hits with mocha nitro cold brew, and finishes strong with a mix of dark dried fruit and subtle alcohol warmth and sweetness.

Did you know Humming Bird Porter takes its name from a streamliner passenger train that ran between Cincinnati and New Orleans? The Humming Bird was a famous passenger train that ran from 1946 to 1969 and was operated by L&N Railroad (L&N stands for Louisville and Nashville, who knew?!).

Humming Bird is available on draft and in cans at the taproom today. Get the fire pits ready and we will see you soon.

Louisville Downtown Partnership and Against The Grain Brewery are partnering to bring the popular Oktoberfest celebration Steins on
Main to Downtown this October. The celebration will return to Downtown Louisville on Saturday,
October 17 from 2pm to 7pm at RePurposed (615 W. Main Street). The outdoor celebration will feature
German-inspired cuisine, games, and contests, music by Boom pah pah polka band, and more than a
dozen local breweries.⁠

Mel’s Helles is back! 🍻

This b**r was originally brewed following a trip our brewer took to Germany where he and his wife tasted helles from the source for the first time. Buddy’s wife, Melissa said she had rediscovered her love of b**r after having multiple mugs of delicious helles and Buddy couldn’t wait to make his own version for her when they returned home.

This particular batch is made even more special as we utilized Bamberger Malzerei pilsner malt. We pair this special malt with the finest Hallertauer hops and utilize a single decoction so that Mel’s hits all the markers for authentic German pale l***r.

It has a whiff of fresh baguette on the front end followed by the aroma of honeysuckle nectar. First sip hits you with a round malt character and a soft noble hop spice. Mel’s Helles finishes crisp with a lingering complex malt flavor and a gentle floral pop from hersbrucker hops.

This love letter in the form of delicious b**r is available today in the taproom!

As a side note, because we love the Bamberger Malzerei malt so much, we went ahead and secured a shipping container of it, which is on its way to Louisville as we speak. We look forward to using this amazing malt for all of our continental l***rs going forward!

It’s finally here! Monday Kölsch service is live this afternoon 4-8pm. Come enjoy unlimited pours of delicious Mark My Words Kölsch with your buds inside and out, rain or shine.

We’re bringing you a proper diner-style patty melt.

Black Russian bread, two smashed patties, melted provolone, grilled onions, kraut, and a double hit of jalapeño aioli and garlic aioli.

Shrimp Scampi 🍤

Some dishes carry a little more meaning than others.

This weekend, we’re honoring Chef Sean O’Brien, a local chef who worked alongside Chef Kathryn and someone whose presence continues to mean a lot to the community. Shrimp Scampi was one of his favorite traditional dishes to put on special and we’re excited to bring it to you in his honor.

Jumbo shrimp, bucatini noodles, butter, white w**e, extra virgin olive oil, lemon, garlic, shallot, maldon, pepper, red pepper flakes, and parsley. Simple, classic, and full of flavor.

A dish with a little history, a lot of heart, and a place at our table. ❤️
