***NOISE ORDINANCE 99.01 UPDATE***
Hey all ....good news. We were able to meet with Councilman Ben Reno-Weber concerning the Noise Ordinance 99.01 on Monday. We had a great meeting and a lot of information was traded. Information that was brand new to both sides of the issue. I will say there are a lot of rumors floating around about this ordinance and to give you an example... one such rumor is that the point of violation is 50ft from the speaker. This is not true. Even though it is still an issue, the point of demarcation that begins the violation is 50ft from the property line. Another rumor going around is that DWP (Louder Than Life & Bourbon & Beyond) were given a pass so they could bring in their festival(s) and make money. Again, not true. DWP has worked hard to build these festivals for the Louisville area to offer music to the public and an economic revenue stream to the city. The Highlands Fairgounds facility is a state-run piece of property therefore giving noise ordinance 99.01 no jurisdiction over those festivals.
Long story short, MERF was to walk away from the meeting with some valuable information we need to disclose to the public and also have two actionable items to carry out.
1. MERF is requesting a meeting with the councilman, MERF, and ABC Director Brad Silveria, to discuss how to remedy this situation for both sides of the issue. Councilman Ben Reno-Weber has agreed to facilitate such a meeting which will take place within the week.
2. MERF is going to be placed on the Metro Council Meeting agenda and will be organizing a campaign to speak to the council. MERF will produce evidence that this ordinance is a Civil Response to a Criminal issue and it should be placed on pause until a more healthy resolution can be put in place.

We welcome the public to attend to hear:
1. Real accurate information surrounding the ordinance, what it is intended purpose is, and also where it came from.
2. MERF will also debunk many of the rumors surrounding ordinance 99.01 so the public has a more clear understanding.
3. Finally, MERF will inform the public how we are planning to combat this ordinance and help both sides of the issue come to a workable solution.
4. You will hear from various club owners, musicians, industry professionals, and the public regarding their position on the ordinance and how it has affected them.
5. MERF will be taking 30-second video testimonials from these individuals and anyone who feels the need to weigh in on the issue, regarding how the ordinance has affected them. MERF will then use this data to explain our position at the Council Meeting scheduled two weeks from Thursday. WE NEED YOUR INPUT.
Please plan to attend.
