oooooo hosted the dinner of my dreams a couple weeks ago🌟 was so good for my heart for so many reasons! to name a few:

Iberian food is such a delight to me (love a briny salty sweet spicy situation). love Siesta Co. ~ A Piece of Spain tinned fish. love BRISCA | Spanish Olive Oil olive oil. 🇪🇸🇵🇹

Canary Club has the best patio imo, and I’m so glad we squeezed one of the last temperate nights of its outdoor dining potential before full-fall lands upon us. special shoutout for curating cocktails and w**e pairings for each course!

as per all of our dinners thus far (and probably forever), everyone sat together at a long table. I love making people have to talk to each other and I was sure to ask folks at the end of the dinner if they made friends - the answers were all YES!

Alex Huninghake is stellar at curating music and staying responsive to the ambiance. he’s got that groove in his heart. they don’t call him DJ Body & Soul for nothing.

Jon Cherry took these glorious photos that captured all of us in our elements and highlighted that dang patio to the max!

Devon Gray was the hero of the florals, using wild foraged flowers and botanicals as she does best.

KJ OLSEN and caroline are lovely women with capable hands and charming energies, thank you for your forces in the kitchen and during service!

my cup couldn’t be fuller, I can’t wait to keep these community dinners flowing!

looks cute, what is it?

when I moved back home to Louisville after 10 years away, I was most excited to cook - to work with with local producers, farmers, butchers.

what began as a personal chef service evolved into a fully organic, anti-inflammatory, gluten free + seed oil free meal prep option with local produce at the forefront

metaphorically and literally, my love for vegetables, gardening, and cooking is baked into every meal.

the result?
a simpler week for you. an ease that comes with not having to scan ingredient labels. a connection to the land where your food comes from. and hopefully, a sense of care for the physical body that brings you through life.

join us for COCINA IBÉRICA, an limited-seating communal dining experience on the Canary Club patio celebrating the flavors and convivial spirit of the Iberian Peninsula.

on the autumn equinox, Earthy Plate will bring the last of summer’s harvest to the table, squeezing every bit of late-season produce into a menu inspired by the cooking of spain + portugal. expect bright citrus, smoky peppers, olive oil, almonds, sofrito, and plenty of things to share.

DJ Body + Soul will be spinning vinyl throughout dinner, while Canary Club will welcome you with a specialty cocktail and a w**e pairing with each course.

after dinner, you’re invited to wander inside for Tuesday Jazz Night and keep the evening going with live music and libations.

everything I made for REALLY EARTHY DINNER no. 2 last night 🌽

Really Good Vintage is the best partner!

the menu celebrates the three sisters (corn, beans, squash) and the vegetables growing in my garden!

alex made margarita swirls which were surprisingly delicate and more earthy than the typical syrupy slushy! so so so good

the garden is popping with shish*to peppers right now. I charred them on the grill with salt and chipotle and laid them in a puddle of lime + cilantro crema

next we delighted in corn ribs with an aleppo and red w**e vinegar glaze atop chimichurri and dusted with cotija

my favorite part!!!!! psychedelic tortillas (as I endearingly call them) are made by patiently pressing different colored heirloom corn masa. I learned this technique when I worked at _recí_ for a few years in Tulum

we made miso barbacoa tetelas (tetela refers to the triangular shaped pocket that can be filled with anything but mostly includes beans and cheese) with squash blossom also from the garden

I was laughing at myself grilling this large vat of rice pudding and had to take a picture. I have to say this is my favorite cooking method 🤪

coconut + cinnamon arroz con leche with lime curd and lime zest to finish 🍋‍🟩 who doesn’t love a citrusy dessert? so good!

Next Tuesday 8/18 we’re returning to Really Good Vintage for another intimate evening of exceptional curated vintage amongst good people followed by dinner provisioned by Earthy Plate

This time we’re guided by the three sisters (corn, beans + squash) of mesoamerican foodways with a menu built around the summer harvest from the Earthy Plate farm.

just a few months ago, using a little plot of soil at my parents’ house, I started my first garden. I’m feeling both proud to be growing my own food but also very mesmerized that earth is so intelligent and knows what to do under organic circumstances. the soil was extremely clay, super hard, seemingly dead. I’m seeing that with just a little human support in the beginning, germination takes little intervention and an ecosystem can activate and thrive.
here’s a little snippet of transparency on how I’ve gotten to enjoy such a bounty of edible plants this season ❤️

every once in a blue moon, I say yes to more projects than a weekend should reasonably hold ~ but never regretfully

a few weeks ago, I wove together a corporate catering delivery, a multi-day private chef experience celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary, along with our regular meal prep schedule. I spent the days prior sourcing ingredients, drying herbs, gathering flowers, and chopping produce forever.

once I completed deliveries and felt wonderfully spent and fulfilled, I recouped the only way I know how… under sun + outdoors. a blueberry pick and a lil trail run later, and I’m ready for more summer endeavors
