Hello friends! It’s time once again for festival season. We at Major Concessions and Catering appreciate your continued support. We have been quiet for several months but with all that has happened we weren’t sure how to address the goings on around us. As you all are aware we were working closely with a company at Iroquois amphitheater doing the food production for concerts and other events there. During our time there we were working under the supervision of Southern Hospitality Concessions which also lead to our staff entering the realm of music festivals. It was a wild three years. Unfortunately during the absence of our GM from SOHO the bar manager was left in charge of some smaller events and the first two weeks of JOLS. During the 2022 season she had already been left in charge before and to say it was a train wreck would be an understatement. There were multiple verbal altercations with bartenders, barbacks, cooks, and even the staff from the parks department with this person. We were promised it wouldn’t occur again and went into 2023 with high hopes. We were blatantly lied to. As soon as our GM was “needed” elsewhere, we were back in the same boat. During last years JOLS this person was again put at the helm and it was a joke from day one. The final straw was when she came into my kitchen and began to insult the entire staff including my husband. They were called racial slurs, accused of stealing, and I was told we would no longer receive a starting bank for outdoor activations because she couldn’t trust “those people” with SOHO money. I left and pulled my smaller equipment the next day and was only recently allowed to pick up our larger items such as our grills, tables, and tents. We refuse to be a part of a company who not only chooses to employ racists but defends them and puts them in positions of management.
That being said we are looking forward to what this year brings and we hope to see all of you out and about this summer!
