Hazards was named after Alexander Hazard, an early settler tied to the coast, and the stretch of coastline at Montaña de Oro.
Along those bluffs, rows of eucalyptus trees stand — not native, but long since part of the landscape.
The trees there were introduced long ago, planted by Hazard, but over time they settled in — shaped by wind, salt air, and years of change until they became part of the landscape.
This stuck with us.
