We teamed up with our friends at Loquat Coffee on the Cold Brew Float, their Costa Rica Matanilla, a medium light roast grown in the Central Valley and roasted right here in Los Angeles, poured over Magpies Softserve. On the menu now at all three shops.

Flavors of the week: Black Sesame and Fudgesicle. If you've never had black sesame, think of the toasty, roasted depth of peanut butter, then take it somewhere darker and a little more grown up. And if you ever chased an ice cream truck down the block with a fistful of your parents' change, hoping you weren't too late for a chocolate Fudgesicle, you already know the other one. This time nobody has to run.

Drumstick Softserve Pie is back on the menu. Brown Sugar Vanilla Softserve layered with caramel, fudge and waffle peanut bark, topped with whipped cream and toasted peanuts, all in a graham cracker crust. If you were the kid who saved the bottom of the cone for last, this one is for you, and the best part is in every bite.

Flavors of the week: Maple Bourbon and Cappuccino. Fall officially started yesterday, but the thermometer hasn't gotten the memo, so we've decided to stop waiting on it. Maple Bourbon is maple syrup and Kentucky bourbon, with notes of oak, brown sugar and caramel. Cappuccino is espresso, milk and Softserve, three great things that belong together. Consider this our formal invitation to the season, delivered cold, which is the only way anyone wants it right now.

We took the sandwich out of the lunchbox and put it in a cup. The strawberries here are roasted until the flavor intensifies, sweet up front with a tart edge underneath. The peanut butter is roasted and salted, balancing the strawberries' sweetness. Together they taste like the one you ate at nine, minus the bread. Roasted Strawberry and Peanut Butter, on the menu now and quite possibly the perfect swirl.

Remember the little bit of brownie batter left in the mixing bowl? Some of us might even admit it was better than the baked brownies, or at least that it held us over until they came out of the oven. Brownie Batter is one of our new flavors of the week, along with Peanut Butter, deep and roasted, made by folding peanut butter into our Softserve base. Get them together in one cup, and this time there's no waiting on the oven.

Blueberry Lemon Softserve Pie is back, in small numbers, for a short time. Blueberry Pie Softserve, lemon marmalade, lemon pound cake, blueberry jam, whipped cream, and a blueberry brown sugar crumble in a graham cracker crust. It is one of our favorite pies we make, and we only made a few, so if it has been on your list, this is the week.

Banana bread is younger than you think. Bananas only became cheap in America in the early 1900s, and once every kitchen had a bunch going brown on the counter, somebody had to figure out what to do with them. Baking soda had just made quick breads possible, the flour companies started printing recipes to sell more flour, and by the 1930s banana bread was in cookbooks everywhere. Chiquita put it on their own materials in the fifties and that was that. It became the most beloved thing anyone ever invented out of fruit nobody wanted. Banana Bread Softserve is on the menu now, ripe banana leading, brown sugar underneath, cinnamon and vanilla to finish.
