Our Organic Taco Kits have been selling like crazy and we are soooo excited to see you all loving it…

Here’s a lil look into why we launched meal prep in the first place and why everyone has been keeping us busy Sunday nights as we prep for Monday delivery day 📦 🥇

Basically, because we had insane standards in our home kitchen like only using wooden cutting boards, stainless steel steel cookware, no Teflon, RO water in our recipes, no gums, no stabilizers, nothing artificial, no even “natural flavors”, every single ingredient vetted just like we do in our home kitchen…

And that’s exactly why we started Talo.

We just wanted truly clean food where seed oils aren’t hidden behind marketing like “no seed oils in our kitchen” but really they’re still sourcing fries laced in seed oils that are then shipped to their kitchen 🫠

I’ve heard the philosophy of “don’t do it unless you’re gonna get credit for it”… and I don’t quite agree, I definitely see why business wise it makes sense to only accrue the extra costs when it’s providing a meaningful boost to the business…

There are some standards that we hold at Talo that are just hard to “market”, one of those being that most people don’t even understand what regenerative means!

But for us, that doesn’t change our philosophy and the pressure on ourselves to pick suppliers that push our true mission forward.

And to be real, we wanted to start a regenerative farm before ever thinking of opening a restaurant.

We love the land God gave us and just want to help replenish it. We want animals growing in the most natural way possible, on clean open fresh grassy pastures.

We figured that creating the demand for regenerative and organic products would be a good way to push the standards we care for forward… to create more demand for these amazing farms so they can expand and do what they do best.

All of our proteins aren’t always certified regenerative - but we are always sourcing 100% grass fed and finished beef and organic pasture raised chicken, and most of those farms do happen to use regenerative practices.

And it’s not just the land, it’s the food quality too:

Cattle raised on grass and finished on grass can produce beef with more omega-3 fatty acids, CLA and certain antioxidants than conventional grain-finished beef. Recent research comparing commercial beef also found a substantially lower omega-6:omega-3 ratio in grass-fed beef, although the nutritional differences can vary quite a bit from farm to farm.

So when we choose pasture-raised and especially 100% grass-fed beef, we’re not just thinking about what’s on your plate.

We’re thinking about the entire system behind it.

The animal.
The farmer.
The soil.
The ecosystem.
And ultimately, you.

“Grass-fed” is one of those words that sounds simple until you start digging.

We didn’t want to find something just “grass fed”. We wanted to know how the animals were treated, what exactly they were fed, if they were on open pasture…

Because grass fed doesn’t mean JUST grass!

‘Grass-fed’ is one thing. Knowing what your beef was fed its entire life is another.

We source 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef, because we want to know what our cattle ate from start to finish.

And it’s available at our restaurant in Venice or in our meal prep boxes shipped all across Southern California every Monday.
