On May 2, 2018, the 4th generation family run oyster operation from Virginia opened their first West Coast location with lunch service at ROW DTLA. Owners and cousins Ryan and Travis Croxton are known for revitalizing a collapsing oyster industry in Virginia and their East Coast concepts have garnered a big following. The exposed wood and concrete interiors of ROW DTLA’s historic space is the ideal setting for Rappahannock Oyster Company’s first west coast location, offering a West Coast spin on their East Coast heritage. Executive Chef, Nick Erven’s menu draws upon the diverse landscape of Los Angeles with an emphasis on locally sourced, ethically fished and responsibly farmed produce.
The space, designed by Studio UNLMTD, takes cues from the oyster farming process blending blackened steel, metal mesh and wood with marble, zinc, colorful tile and copper accents. The marble oyster counter anchors the open kitchen and is filled with Rappahannock, Rochambeau and Olde Salt oysters as well as clams, scallops and shrimp. For lunch, market driven salads and sandwiches fit alongside oysters for dining on the open patio. The dinner menu, launching next month, offers small and large plates for sharing with an emphasis on seafood as well as vegetable and meat dishes.
