Labor Day was built by working people. It started in the 1880s, when unions organized parades and demonstrations to demand fair hours, fair pay, and dignity on the job, and it became a national holiday in 1894.
That history means something to a deli. Langer’s is a proud UNITE HERE Local 11 house, and this place runs on the people behind the counter, in the kitchen, and on the floor: carving, baking, serving, and showing up every single day. So on Monday, September 7, we’re closed. Our crew gets the day off, the way the holiday intended.
We’re back Tuesday, September 8, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Happy Labor Day from all of us.
