Pioneer Chicken is an American fried chicken restaurant chain first opened in Echo Park in 1961 by H.R. Kaufman. When Kaufman sold the chain in 1987 there were 270 restaurants operated by 220 franchises. As of 2026 there are only 2 locations remaining, Bell Gardens and Boyle Heights.
