This photo might not look like much, but it means a lot to me… it marks years of growth and refinement in my journey as a pizza maker.

Every cook has their own opinion on ingredients and where it’s worth spending the money. Running a small business means constantly balancing quality with cost, but there are certain things chefs decide they refuse to compromise on.

For us, that’s the dough. Specifically the grain we use.

After years of blending different flours, a trip to Cairnspring Mills this past May and meeting the people behind the grain made the decision easy. If we believe in better grain, we should be using better grain. Not just some, but all.

Hot Tongue is now made with a 100% Cairnspring a beautiful four-flour blend. We genuinely believe it’s the best dough we’ve ever made, and we can’t wait for you to taste the difference and if you can’t that’s okay too. Sometimes it’s just about knowing that we are doing our best to push ourselves.

Having a kid has changed a lot for me. It’s shifted how I see my role as a restaurant owner and reminded me to slow down and focus on what really matters spending time with people and building genuine connections.

Art has a way of breaking down walls. It gives people a chance to express themselves, let go of judgment, and lose themselves in the creative process. Having a kid helps remind me to look at the world like an artist, or at least with more curiosity.

I’m really grateful to 🧩 Reid 🧩 — Believe in the People, Not the Hype™ for putting this together with me this afternoon. There’s something special about bringing people together with no agenda other than to hang out, create something, and enjoy each other’s company.

🎨 Community Art Day at Hot Tongue 🎨

We’re teaming up with our friend 🧩 Reid 🧩 — Believe in the People, Not the Hype™ for a community art event at Hot Tongue!

Tim is the artist behind the solo show currently hanging in the shop, and we wanted to take things a step further by making it interactive. We’ll have canvases, paper, paints, pastels, and plenty of supplies available for anyone who wants to create. Tim will be painting live throughout the event, and we’ll also be working on a community art piece that we hope everyone will help bring to life.

The event is completely free to attend, and from 12–3 PM we’ll be donating 20% of all pizza sales to an organization that supports arts education and access.

We’re giving away a Gozney Arc Lite!

A few weeks ago, I got to surprise my friend Michael with a brand-new Arc Lite. Pizza oven. We spent an afternoon in his backyard where I gave him my official pizza-making masterclass. I must say, he picked it up fast. Just a few days later, he hosted his first solo pizza night for his family.

Being able to give Michael that oven meant a lot. Our families have shared countless meals together in his backyard over the last year, and I’ve always believed there’s something special about making pizza at home. Burgers and hot dogs are great, but they just don’t hit the same as stretching dough, firing pies, and cooking under the open sky with the people you love.

The good news? Michael isn’t the only one getting an oven.

Our Summer Special is an ode to one of the pizzas that shaped my childhood. It’s nostalgic, a little ridiculous, and honestly not very profitable, but pizza is supposed to be fun.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday, grab a limited-edition Ready & Hot pizza for just $5.99, served in our custom throwback box, while supplies last.
