Hey guys! It’s been a while 🙃. These days I’m running laps between 3 restaurants pretending to be positions that I have zero experience in and somehow surviving to do it all over the following day. So if you’ve come in and seen me I’m sorry I haven’t been available to say Hi.
Just recently I really wanted to focus on making the best batch of doughnut dough when Health Department walked in (Long story short we got an A at all 3 restaurants 🥳) needless to say I wasn’t able to care for my dough which was time sensitive (especially in this heat 🥵🙄) so today I printed out a sign because Saturday is dedicated to Skillet Cookies, Doughnuts, Glazes, Flan, Pie Dough, and Fruit Purées. If you haven’t saved room for desserts at either of my locations, please do. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

DYK that we still serve the best fried chicken sandwich? Except it no longer comes out of a truck! We serve various versions of the OG chicken sandwich that started on my humble porch in Jefferson Park. Maybe will make a movie out of it 😅😂. “From 36th Street to Sunset Blvd. How a local chef took to the streets to serve a gourmet chicken sandwich.” Dramatic music and all.
Anyways, come say hi to my team. I’ll even join you for a mocktail. Though you will have to forgive me if I don’t recognize you immediately, in real life I’m not 8 feet tall so faces look different now that we’re on level ground 😅.

If you’ve ever made the (very) wise decision of grabbing a seat at the bar on the weekend you’ve likely had the pleasure of conversation. One of the many things I love about restaurants is the intimacy of conversation whether it be through food or liquor. I’m very happy to have Erik on our team especially because he matches the vision here at Ronnie’s. We are a Neighborhood Chef Driven Gastropub, we have all the friendly faces and are always ready to serve you with warm smiles. Erik being one of those. Meet Rogelio. Rogelio has gone through many LA kitchens. Mostly not on his resume. He was one of our first hires and I’m super stoked he stuck around. He is a bad ass and handles 2 stations at a time without breaking a sweat. He’s been patiently waiting for me to bring out the wood grill made by Gary of NorCal OvenWorks who also supplies many great restaurants with wood burning hearths/ovens/grills/braseros. You name it. Here he is outside cooking off some corn for . Meet . Gio started working with me in 2017 as a dishwasher and continued to wash pots for me at other restaurants throughout my career. Late last year when I was gearing up to open (before all the delays) I decided I was done hiring him to wash dishes and brought him on as a cook. He’s a cool dude, looks like he’s in his 40’s, acts like he’s a teenager, and works as slow as bricks, but every day since opening he’s been getting better. I am happy and honored to have Giovanni on my team and I’m excited to see him grow into a cook. For now, he’s in charge of the 2nd most important station at Ronnie’s. If you’ve ordered any sandwich or salad it’s very likely Gio has assembled it for you. Thanks Gio!

DYK we do more than just chicken ?
We’re not a pop up or a truck anymore. Thanks to our partner moved into a restaurant space and developed into a brand new concept on Sunset! While we still serve a killer chicken sandwich we also serve chain restaurant classics like our Flowering Onion 🧅. Up until 2 months ago I hadn’t even had one but I’m so glad to offer one.
1st it’s an honor to be able to serve you.
2nd I’m so happy to be able to get away with serving a flowering onion.
My chef ( ) came in and asked if I was happy. My response was “Of course I’m happy. I’m serving a Flowering Onion.” It’s just one of those things you can’t help but love to see on a table. Hope to serve you soon! 5936 W sunset Blvd.
