Hey gang! Just a reminder that we are officially closed starting tomorrow for one full week. We will be back Thursday August 6th. Jay will be completely unavailable for this entire time, so all calls & messages will likely go unanswered until next week. As soon as we’re back, we will start interviews for the barista position. We are also officially ready to rent out the two bedroom apartment above the shop. So if you’re still interested, hit us up to check it out next week. Cheers guys, see you all soon. Jay

We are hiring! Looking for a hard working & friendly person to join our team to make great coffee. Customer service skills & being good with the community is a must. We are looking for people who have coffee shop/restaurant experience and already have service industry background. If you have espresso machine & milk steaming experience that is a bonus.

I know this sounds obvious, but we are looking for people that are interested in coffee & coffee shop culture. Message us here or stop by the shop. Resumes welcome.

Max…❤️ - You my friend, are a real one for sure. And we will deeply miss seeing you here everyday.

If you know Max, you know that he is definitely a mover & a shaker. And the perfect person to hold this role for the past several years. A lot of people talk about making the downtown a better place, Max worked every single day to do just that. He cared so much for the growth & health of this downtown, and was always on the go. I’ve seen this guy in more meetings this year alone, than I’ve probably been in my entire life. And it’s not always easy dealing with all of the different personalities & idiosyncrasies of the business district’s owners… I know for a fact that this guy put out a lot of fires, and tried hard to mend fences, and bring people together. There is no doubt that Max has made this downtown a much better place, and I am so grateful for all of his dedication to all of us.

Main Street Lorain is more than just a group that puts on events. It’s like a unity of businesses. Showing a cohesive desire to make our town a better place. The more people involved & unified, the stronger & better we are as a downtown.

Cheers to Max, and congratulations on your new role. The city of Oberlin is extremely lucky to have you.

Main Street Lorain Executive Director Max Schaefer will be leaving his position to join the City of Oberlin as their new Economic Development Officer late next month.

Please see the message below from our organization’s Board President, Ryan Aroney:

———

“First, Max deserves tremendous credit for helping build Main Street Lorain into the strong organization it is today. As our first full-time Executive Director, he has spent the past five years growing the organization, strengthening our partnerships, and creating a sustainable foundation for the future.

His commitment to his hometown has always been evident, and throughout his tenure he has consistently put the best interests of our downtown businesses, property owners, and community first. We are grateful for his leadership and wish him nothing but success in his next chapter.

With Max’s departure, Main Street Lorain will begin their search for a new Executive Director immediately.

As we begin this transition, our focus is on the future. Main Street Lorain is entering an exciting period of growth, and we are preparing to develop a new strategic plan that will guide the organization through the next five years and beyond. We are looking for a dynamic, visionary leader who can build on the momentum we've created, inspire collaboration throughout our community, and help us continue moving Downtown Lorain forward.

We have a strong board, dedicated volunteers, and incredible community partners, and we're excited for the next person to join us in shaping what's ahead.”

Bringing Peach Matcha back this week!! We had some tasty local peaches looking for a home in your belly. We’re using a lil’ more premium matcha powder in each drink, so the color is greener & the tea flavors will shine through.

We will also have more Caramel Banana lattes this week, I have 60 bananas worth of syrup ready for you. We are using our Guatemala hand picked coffee beans for the Vanilla Cold Brew this week. And we have some fresh blueberry muffins for you everyday this week.

Don’t forget…one week from today we will be closing for 7 days. Cheers, I hope everyone is having a really good day today.

Oh hi… yes, today we did not have any danishes or things for you. I decided to throw away all of our produce and batters made from anything that could have been sourced from a grocery store. The majority of our bakery is fruit based, and with talks of a food parasite going around, we decided to scrap everything we had in stock.

Going forward until the CDC or FDA gets this figured out, we are going to slim down our offerings. Although we buy as much local food as possible… sometimes it’s just not possible or logical for some of the fruits we use & the volume we go through. In the meantime we are only going to use what is directly available to us at local markets and in season. With a few exceptions… bananas which don’t seem to be affected and are also cooked to a proper temp, oranges, and mangos.

Raw strawberries are out for danishes and such though. And sadly, blackberry danishes are going to disappear for a while. I’m going to figure out some new things to make, and possibly start leaning more savory with some of our foods.

Strawberry matcha will be replaced with peach in the meantime. Thanks everyone, and hope you all had a really good day. 🫶🏻

Hey gang, just an early announcement that the shop will be closed Wednesday, July 29th - Wednesday, August 5th. We will return Thursday the 6th, refreshed & ready for you.

I haven’t had a proper break in the 4 years since designing, building, and opening this place. I live upstairs from the shop, so it never seems like I get to step away. Going to use this time to disappear into the mountains & push myself over an insane amount of miles. Hoping to find some peace & harmony, then return bright eyed and motivated to bring us into the next chapter. And I’ll def post some great outdoor coffee making content for you guys!

While we are away, I’d love for you to spend your days with our friends at Ship To Shore, Slow Train Cafe/The Local Coffee, Floral Fox, and Emilies. But also suggest exploring some new places in the city. The Cleveland area has so many amazing coffee shops & I urge you to start checking out some new places.

In the meantime, we are going to focus more on the coffee side of things. We have some really great drink specials this week, and next week will be even better. Cheers!

Second Saturday on Broadway is upon us. Come visit all of the Main Street Lorain businesses, as well as 50+ vendors set up all along the main drag. Sometimes parking can be a little tough on Broadway, but I assure you it is worth it to come down & hang. If you cannot find a spot directly in front of us (or another business you plan to visit) there is infinity parking spots behind our building… and we have an alley way & back door you can cut through.

Saturday Bakery: Toffee Cookies • Reese’s Cookies • Dark Cherry Cream Cheese Danish • Bea’s Banana Bread • Blueberry Muffins • Red Raspberry Jam Bars • Blackberry Jam Bars

Drink Special: Vanilla Cold Brew

What if I told you cold brew doesn’t need to have foam & tons of sugar to be amazing. This week’s special: Vanilla Cold Brew. Brazil Chapada de Minas cold brew coffee, house made Madagascar vanilla bean, splash of heavy cream.
