At New Miyako the prices are low and the service is fast, but we are far from being categorized with American fast food. For our health conscious customers our Asian cuisine has a variety of health benefits over American cuisine. We stress the importance of fresh and healthy ingredients. Like most Asian cuisine, New Miyako uses a array of different sauces and herbs to create big flavor impact without using oils and high-fat ingredients.
Unlike American fast food vegetables are a staple on our menu. Vegetables provide dietary fiber, which may help lower blood glucose levels that lead to obesity and diabetes. Broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, and asparagus all play a major role in most of our dishes. Despite the Japanese fried tempura on our menu our food is generally steamed and stir-fried using minimal oil. We use these techniques in our cooking when preparing vegetables with lean grilled meats such as chicken, steak, or fish. We also offer tofu and meatless dishes. New Miyako puts a focus on lean proteins and using few red meats. We don’t serve sausage, hamburger, bacon, pork chops, or meat balls, these meats are high in saturated fats which can elevate "bad" cholesterol and lead to obesity, arteriosclerosis, stroke and heart attack.
New Miyako also serves a variety of uncooked fish in out sushi dishes. Seafood such as salmon, ahi, yellow tail, crab, shrimp, and eel are are low in unhealthy saturated fats, but high in omega-3 fatty acids. These fats are associated with improving your blood cholesterol levels and lowering your blood pressure. Simple carbohydrates are prominent in the typical American fast food diet, and they can dramatically raise blood sugar level and cause diabetes. Even though white rice is a main carbohydrate in Asian cuisine, here at New Miyako we offer and promote a brown rice option for our health conscious customers.
