We had an incredible time hosting the first LBI Book Festival! Thank you to Patrick Johns | Engineer turned Writer + Book Coach for organizing the event and thank you so much to all the authors for coming and sharing your work! The day was full of book signings, author’s interviews and great chats!

We cannot wait to do it again next year!

Whisking matcha has been done for over 500 years. Today more people than ever are using the matcha whisk also known as a chasen (茶筅).

This tool originated in the Japanese village Takayama in the Murimachi period when the tea ceremony was being created and the village was commissioned to craft the whisk.

Today, the region produces approximately 90% of all chasen made in Japan, and Takayama chasen has been designated a traditional craft by the Japanese government.

The matcha whisk is made from a single piece of bamboo split and shaped into 80-120 fine tines.

Today as matcha grows and grows in popularity lower cost chasen made outside of Japan have become widely available.

When we’re not slinging coffee we’re usually at the movies! So in honor of Adam Marshall Present film American Dendrite playing TONIGHT at the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Co. we are rolling out a specialty latte the Movie Night Latte!

This latte, made with sea salt, caramel + popcorn seasoning will be available all August long!

Come by Whittingham Coffee House any day to try it for yourself and find us tonight watching American Dendrite with the director!
