Al's Place Locke Al The Wop's is a historic Bar & Restaurant in Locke. Later Al purchased the building from Lee Bing and continued in the business until his death in 1961.

“There’s No Place Like This Place Anywhere Near This Place So This Must Be The Place”. Al’s place was constructed in 1915 by Lee Bing and three partners who ran a Chinese restaurant here in Locke, California. In 1934 Al Adami and an associate came up the river from Ryde to become the first non-Chinese business in town. From the beginning, Al’s goal was to create an establishment with no pretense which he named named Al the WOP’s. Al’s goal was to create an establishment for the working man, a place to “Come in, relax and leave your worries outside.” From this many traditions were born. The first was the cutting off of businessmen’s ties and leaving them at the front door. This tradition was followed by tacking dollars to the ceiling as homage to the people of Locke. This money was used to host an annual liver feed for the local people who had supported him. Many traditions are still alive and well at Al’s today as Al the WOP’s has operated as a restaurant and bar more or less continuously since Al first opened its doors to the public. The dollars are still on the ceiling and you are expected to take your tie off before you come in. In its almost 100 year history Al the WOPs has become a destination for bikers, boaters and tourists from around the world. We pride ourselves on holding on to the values that Al established. It’s a place to leave your worries at the door, enjoy good drink and food, and experience the community of the California Delta with your friends.

A customer asked Mikey’s Buffalo Chicken Sandwich to lose the bread... and honestly, it’s darn good this way!

Mike, Mike, Mike, YOU KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS!!!

It's the middle of the week, and the middle of the week usually means nothing good is happening... unless you're at Al The Wops, because tonight is our Way Back Wednesday Dinner Special!

You get to enjoy a Big Ol' or Li'l Steak Dinner served family-style with salad, soup, fries, spaghetti, and Al's Fried Bread, plus a glass of house red or white if you're over 21. It's dinner the way it used to be, back when nobody took pictures of their food.

Hump day was never supposed to be this delicious. Walk through our red doors, tell us your name isn't Mike, and eat like it's already the weekend!

• Wayback Wednesday - Family Style Steak Dinners, old school Al’s style. Big steak or little steak | salad | soup | fries | spaghetti
and Al’s famous grilled bread!
Dinner only - starts at 5:00PM.

• Trivia Thursday - we ask questions, you answer, someone wins something! Did you know? The most CLEVER participant name wins a prize! So get creative, get sarcastic, the more ridiculous the name the better.
(of course, complimenting the host also scores points 💋🫏) So dust off those remaining brain cells and come over,
Trivia starts at 6:30PM.

That one’s on you, figure it out.
We’ll do our part cooking, keeping the drinks filled and doing the dishes.

Welcome to the Delta's version of that one Eagles song... the EXIT sign at Al The Wops is real, but it's just mostly decorative. You can check out any time you'd like, but you can never leave!

Come in on a Wednesday for one cocktail and a quick bite. Three hours later you've got a favorite stool, a regular walking you through Delta history, and a third round you don't remember ordering. Nobody's holding you here. The place just has a way of keeping you.

Throw a line in the river this morning, cruise the levee roads with the windows down, then land at Al The Wops before kickoff. NFL football is on, the b**r is cold, and our Grilled Chicken Sandwich could be your reward for remembering the outside world exists.

Pick your poison at Al The Wops this weekend... we've got enough taps here to start a family argument!

The Coors Banquet crowd, the PBR loyalists, and the Juicy Haze IPA people all belong at the same bar, whether they like it or not. Not a b**r person? There's a bottle of Bogle Red right there in the lineup, made just up the river. Plus, we've got shelves and shelves of liquor just waiting to be poured.

Make a weekend adventure out of the drive, then come in for cold drinks and delicious food that'll make the trip worth it. Choose wisely, or don't. There's always a second round!
