The bull has long been a popular pub sign due to its recognizability and status as a working animal. 🐂🇬🇧🍺
Pubs in the UK are often named the “Bulls Head” because the bull was a popular British heraldic emblem representing power and agricultural wealth. Many of these historic pubs were also located near cattle markets, taverns, or arenas where bulls were raised and traded.
Some pubs with Bull in their name also stem from the religious source because bull also comes from ‘bulla’, an ecclesiastical seal.
