Round-Abouts Restaurant, serving “pot pies with a twist” since August 2011, will close the doors of its Clocktower Shopping Center location at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25. Until then, the restaurant will be open its regular hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., except closing at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Round-Abouts is the creation of Lincoln natives Bev and Nate Kellison, mother and son. Their pot pies, muffin-sized, are made fresh from scratch every day. The pies start with a rich crust that is filled with any of four breakfast flavors or any of 16 different meat and vegetarian flavors. Favorites include Reuben, chicken parmesan, cheese and broccoli, and, of course, the traditional chicken pot pie, which the restaurant touts as “the best in Lincoln.”
In the first year of its operation, Round-Abouts was featured on The Travel Channel on a show called “Pot Pie Paradise”. As a result of this national attention, Round-Abouts has been privileged to serve guests from 42 states and 5 countries outside the U.S.
During 2014, Round-Abouts achieved the designation of “GREAT Kitchen” from the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA). The designation indicates that Round-Abouts serves gluten-free products – including all but 2 of its pie flavors – prepared according to NFCA protocols.
Round-Abouts is not going away. In its new kitchen location, Round-Abouts will continue to provide catering services and prepare Take-n-Bake six- packs for home baking. In addition to catering, it will be developing its pies into retail grocery products and plans to be present at local farmer’s markets beginning next spring. The Kellisons are also considering offering their products as a fundraising option.
Round-Abouts customers can keep up with new developments on Facebook or on the Round-Abouts website at www.roundaboutsrestaurant.com . The business phone will continue to be 402-261-9498.
