Food Bank Donation Bags at 1st Choice Fresh Market

As a local, community-based grocery store, we believe it’s our responsibility to help provide for our neighbors whenever we can — especially when it comes to food security.

We currently make donations to the local Food Bank twice a week and stay in touch with them to learn which items are most needed.

With the possibility of reduced benefits or funding delays due to a potential government shutdown, local Food Banks are preparing for an increase in demand.

If you’d like to make a personal contribution, we now have Food Pantry Donation Bags available for purchase near the front doors.
Each bag includes a thoughtful selection of items that can provide 4–6 meals, depending on family size.
These bags are sold at reduced prices — just enough to cover cost. Once purchased, we’ll deliver them directly to the Food Pantry on your behalf.

We also have seasonal donation bags featuring items commonly enjoyed during the Thanksgiving holiday, so that everyone in our community has the opportunity to share a holiday meal.

No one is ever expected to participate — these bags are simply available for those who wish, and are able, to give.

If you haven't been by our new location, I encourage you to come check out this store we're now located inside of! It's called 1st Choice Fresh Market and it's on the north end of town. It's pretty fantastic!

We're now open inside currently 8am - 3pm 7 days a week! We're waiting for Google to approve our address change & then we can update everything to reflect our open status. Thanks to all of our wonderful customers for your patience while waiting for us to find a new place! We're working on our pastry offerings and will update once we have our new case. Banana bread will be back!

Perk 101 has been forced out of it's location due to a variety of unfortunate events, not least of which was a dispute with the property owner while also being two weeks late on our lease payment. We were ourselves waiting for a loan to get caught up. We had already grown weary of him screaming at customers and ourselves, and him removing valve stems from the tires of anyone that parked in his lot that he didn't want there. It all came to a head last Saturday morning with the worst round of insane behavior we've seen yet, and I refused to take it any longer. Defending myself only enraged him further and he snapped. Unfortunately, with only a verbal agreement and not a written lease, we were told to close up and were given approximately 31 hours to vacate (by 5pm on Sunday). Suffice it to say, owing him money we couldn't get in our hands to give him on a weekend (he doesn't own a computer, have internet, nor email, so you can't pay him electronically), we were forced to close, vacate, and leave all of our equipment behind as collateral. Taking a loan now to get back our equipment without a place to reopen and then earn the income necessary to repay that loan doesn't make sense. So for now, Perk 101 sells coffee through one supermarket in town, and soon through a website. If you enjoy our coffee and would like to support us, you can always reach out through messaging here on social media. Some awesome customers reached out to help and created a GoFundMe. I was unsure of accepting that help because I am used to doing everything for myself. But since my family relies on me, I have to acknowledge my limitations and leave ego out of it. I will share that fundraiser with you all soon, or they may tag me in a post. I love and appreciate all of my customers. Thank you all, regardless of how everything turns out. ❤️ Toby
