⚓️❤️ Help Support Our Local Fishing Families

I’m helping collect auction donations for the Newport Fishermen’s Wives Homeport Dinner on July 25—their biggest fundraiser of the year!

The auction proceeds help fund:
🎣 Emergency assistance funds for local fishing families
🎓 Scholarships for our local community

If you’re a local business, artist, maker, photographer, vacation rental, or anyone with an item, gift basket, gift certificate, experience, or service to donate, we’d love your support.

I’ll be meeting with a representative tomorrow in Lincoln City to hand off the donations I’ve collected so far. If you can’t make tomorrow, no worries!
I’m happy to arrange a pickup afterward and personally deliver your donation to Newport before the event.

This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your business while giving back to the hardworking fishing families who are such an important part of our coastal community.

If you’d like to donate, please send me a message. Every donation—big or small—makes a difference, and your generosity is truly appreciated.

Thank you for helping support our Oregon Coast fishing community! ❤️

Welcome to A Month of Marine Reserves 🌊

Leading up to August 1, Worldwide Marine Protected Area Day, &
are launching a Month of Marine Reserves!

This month will highlight where these reserves are, how they were established, what lives inside of them, and how to visit them! From tidepools to deep reefs, marine reserves help us understand how healthy ocean ecosystems work, and how we can better care for them.

Oregon’s coastline is home to five marine reserves, areas of the ocean set aside for conservation and scientific research. Fishing, harvesting, and ocean development are prohibited, allowing us to study changes in our ocean without added pressure. Scientists study the marine reserves and nearby comparison areas where fishing is allowed to understand if changes in marine populations and health are the result of marine reserve protections or broader ocean trends.

Oregon’s five marine reserves span the coast from North to South:

📍 Cape Falcon
📍 Cascade Head
📍 Otter Rock
📍 Cape Perpetua
📍 Redfish Rocks

Each reserve protects a unique stretch of coastline and seafloor, from rocky reefs to sandy bottoms, helping scientists study Oregon’s diverse marine habitats.

But how did these protected spaces come to be? Tune in on July 6 to learn about how the marine reserves were established!

In the meantime, visit oregonmarinereserves.com
to learn more!
