✨We're Recruiting for AmeriCorps members!✨

High Rocks Hub Café is looking for 3 full-time AmeriCorps members, starting mid-September 2026 to August 2027. Members will gain hands-on experience in barista and culinary skills while building valuable workplace and business competencies.

This role includes providing welcoming customer service, assisting with catering, representing the Café at farmers markets and community events, supporting café marketing and social media, maintaining records and evaluation data, helping coordinate after-school tutoring and workshops, recruiting volunteers, and contributing to meaningful programs that serve both youth and our wider community.

Last week, we explored identity—who we are on the inside and outside. Everyone created incredible self-portraits using a variety of artistic mediums, and each piece was incredibly unique!
This week, we'll be diving into emotions by using acrylic paint to transform our feelings into weather-inspired artwork.🎨⛅️ Will your emotions be a bright sunny day, a peaceful drizzle, or a powerful thunderstorm?

✨ Throwback Thursday STEAM recap! ✨

Back in May, local artisan Van Preston led our third STEAM workshop series, Resin Crafting. Participants designed and created their own wearable and decorative art pieces while exploring the chemical and functional differences between eco-friendly resin and gypsum-based casting materials. They also learned the basics of digital design and precision measurement, the chemistry of resin as a polymer as well as mixing ratios, curing dynamics, and environmental factors that influence the final product.

By the end of the workshop, participants gained both scientific knowledge and hands-on artistic experience, leaving with unique creations and a deeper understanding of how chemistry and creativity intersect.

Whether you are craving a turkey havarti with lettuce, tomato, pickled onion and honey mustard on rye, house-made chicken salad on a croissant or a grilled cheese. You really can't go wrong. ✨ Throw Back Thursday STEAM Recap! ✨

Back in April, Dr. Kristy Henson from Fairmont State University led our second STEAM workshop series. Participants had a blast learning all about Forensic Science!

🔬 They discovered how forensic anthropologists study human skeletons to uncover clues, lift and analyze fingerprints, and even calculate the trajectory of blood spatter. One of our participants stated that she would pursue forensics as her course of study in the future; we call that a huge success! Thank you, Dr. Henson!
